Winter Walk in Lakes 22nd Jan 2023
Stickle Tarn, Sergeant Man, High Raise and back down to Langdale Valley then very nice early tea in Sticklebarn - run by the National Trust and much improved from our last visit and well worth a visit - really nice atmosphere and a Kendal Mountain Festival film and dinner event on in the evening (which we wished we had booked for).
Some of the best and most spectacular views of the Lakes we've seen in years - so lots of pictures to post.
Plenty of snow and ice on the tops - so boot spikes (and coffee flask) helped a lot.
Langdale is just over an hour from our apartment at Moorgarth Hall in Ingleton - but you can be in Windermere in 35 minutes - straight easy road - so you can walk in the Lakes or Dales but only pay Dales accommodation prices.
What's not to love on a day like this?

We were delighted to welcome our first visitors to Moorgarth Hall Apartment for 2023 - who were attempting and succeeding in completing the Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks Challenge in winter (which is a bit tougher with fewer daylight hours for walking).
It was lovely to welcome guests back and we have lots of bookings already for this year.
We have included a bag full of pictures of the apartment in this post and hopefully it will encourage others to stay for the first time or to return to our gorgeous apartment.
The views are stunning and the prices very reasonable for such a large apartment.
We have a lot of walkers doing the Three Peaks - but perfect for a cosy couples getaway too.
You can see 2 of the 3 peaks from the windows in the apartment.
So many lovely walks or bike rides in the Dales from the door - and not all have to be 26 miles!
Great villages, cafes, shops, caves and antique shops - all within a few minutes walk or drive of our apartment in Ingleton.

Barbon Walk - Yorkshire Dales National Park
Just 15 min drive from Moorgarth Hall Apartment in Ingleton is the lovely village of Barbon (near Kirby Lonsdale) with a great 2-3hr circular walk (including a couple of small 400m peaks if you choose to get the heart rate up - or not if not).
Best thing is you can start at the Churchmouse Cafe (a gorgeous little cafe from times gone by) and finish in the Barbon Inn - a traditional Dales pub.
Lots of variety in the walk to keep all ages interested.
What's not to like?

Three Peaks in Three Weeks
The last of our winter walks completing the 3 peaks in 3 weeks (lol) on New Years Eve.
We know this is lazy walking but it is Christmas!
Weather was grim - foggy, boggy, wet - and not many views - but still a great way to work off the Christmas pudding.
