📅 On this day in 1819 the Tewitfield to Kendal stretch of the Lancaster Canal was opened. By this time, nearly 43 miles of the canal had been in regular use for 22 years, since the official opening date of 22nd November 1797. A number of more recent road developments, including the M6 and the A590, sadly mean that this northerly stretch of the waterway network has been mostly non-navigable for some considerable time. 🚤

It wasn't until until 1826, with the opening of a branch to Glasson Dock, that the Lancaster Canal as we know it today was completed! 🏞

Good evening. We have bitten the bullet and have bought a sofa for Blossom.
I know lots of you loved the look of the chairs but we need to adapt and move with the times and we have alot of enquiries which require a fixed second bed so enough of the waffling, here is Blossoms new look.

It is super comfy, super easy to pull out into a single bed or 3 seater sofa so please share the post and share the news that Blossom can now take 3 people or 2 people in separate beds.

Perfect for 2 mates on a fishing trip, a parent and child or 2 parents with an primary age/teen child.

🏆3rd out of the whole country!! If that's not an incentive to book yourself a narrowboat holiday with us then I don't know what is.🏆

🌞And we're off for the new season and what a stunning start its been!!
We hope this week's customers enjoy this gorgeous weather whilst cruising along!🌞

🐕Unfortunately the customers had forgotten their dogs specialist dog food when they arrived so in true Blossom customer service style, we drove around the local vets until I found the right dog food for their dog. We always aim to go above and beyond and remove as many stresses as we possibly can for our customers.🐕

📆 Born on this day in 1340, at St. Bavo's Abbey in Ghent, Flanders, John O'Gaunt. He was the fourth son of King Edward III & Philippa of Hainault. Through his marriage to Blanche of Lancaster, John inherited his father-in-law's title of 'Duke of Lancaster'. Although this title included the ownership of Lancaster Castle, John wasn't a frequent visitor. Despite being celebrated locally in more recent times, he seems only to have stopped off briefly in the town twice - once in 1385 & again in 1393.🎂

Lancaster City Museums have a fine piece of stained glass on display in the old Town Hall building, in Market Square, featuring John O'Gaunt and his castle. The window is the work of the famous Lancaster firm Shrigley & Hunt, based for many years right opposite Lancaster Castle on Castle Hill. 🖼

Had a much needed child free night so what better place than the The Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre.

About a 10-12hr cruise away from Tewitfield and they have a visitor mooring right outside the door. It's the perfect place to aim for on a 7 night hire with us. It is the most beautiful place for a drink or or a meal but if you fancy something a little different, why not try "Shuffleboard" or "crazy pool" whilst you're there. We had so much fun for a little couple of hours out.
They also have a beautiful cinema, ice curling, bowling AND the most amazing crazy golf course.

It's well worth a visit!

Good evening beautiful people.
Long post incoming!...

🌸A little reminder that the coming months are going to be tough for small businesses, its been tricky to navigate for the past couple of years with the price increase of everything.🌸

💰I have made the decision (for now) to not increase my prices, this means Blossom has not had a price increase for the past 3 years.💰

💖It's not been an easy decision and it's one which I'll possibly have to back track on but for now, I'm keeping prices the same. My reason behind this is that to me, Blossom is more than a business transaction, it is memories, its meeting new people, it's that moment that customers return a completely different version of themselves, its seeing people's confidence grow, its hearing their stories and it's knowing the love and memories we have of our little boat are being shared all over the world and I don't want to price anyone out of being able to experience that moment.💖

That being said...I do have a family to support and the little profit that Blossom does bring helps me to take my children away for a yearly holiday and make memories of our own as a family. So if you see small businesses putting their prices up this year, please do continue to support them, even if it's just a comment or a post share on social media, it all helps.

To my returning customers, thank you for keeping Blossom ticking over each year

I never have and never would expect gifts off customers. Seeing the memories and moments that Blossom gives to people is what I take away from every single booking but how thoughtful is this!

A returning customer, whose definitely breached that gap from customer to friend brought this "token gift" this week as a thank you for everything we've done and the confidence she has gained through booking with Blossom and I couldn't not share it.

Blossom is a labour of love, customers are more than a business transaction to us and it's so nice to get the feedback that our customers feel special and recognise this.

Thank you to everyone who has booked with us this year and here's to the new season, new memories and new friends ahead...2025... Blossom is ready for you!!
