LiveHouse is only a 21 minute drive / taxi journey from Halfway Houses Clootie & Cranachan, self-catering accommodation, Carnoustie so why not plan a couple of days break around your get together at their fantastic venue, perhaps, kicking off with a cocktail and bite to eat at Archies Dundee

There is so much to do between Dundee and Angus.

You could take the train from Broughty Ferry or Carnoustie (and a cab to / from the station).

Arbroath Abbey is a 16 minute drive from Halfway Houses Clootie & Cranachan, self-catering accommodation with hot tubs, Carnoustie

There is so much history in the town of Arbroath, and further afield throughout Angus.

Visit Angus is a great site to learn more and help you plan your travels.

There is something for all ages in Arbroath: softplay, Pleasureland, a park with a paddle-pool, coastal views, cave tours, geology walks, shops, and there are many nice places to eat and drink.

Enjoy, then head back to a comfy bed and a relaxing dip in the hot tub.

Right, what's going on in Dundee next week we don't know about? You're all booking Chapelshade for later in October, but next Thursday and Friday? Nothing. Apparently naebody in Dundee is free those nights 😂

So here's a wee reminder that Chapelshade is very much happening next week too! Murder, fights, accidents, tragedy and a fair bit of general Dundee chaos, all from a part of the city centre whose name has almost completely disappeared.

Thursday 1st: 6pm & 7.15pm & Friday 2nd: 6pm. £15pp
So if you're doing hee-haw next Thursday or Friday, come out with us instead.

Escape is only a 20 minute drive from Halfway Houses Clootie & Cranachan, self-catering accommodation, Carnoustie if you are staying at our modern cottages with hot tubs, and looking for something indoors to do.

There are plenty car parks in Dundee and there is so much more to do if you want to make a day of it (swimming, museums, shopping and lots of options for where to eat / drink, including Archies Dundee)

If you prefer not to drive, you could arrange a taxi to Carnoustie or Broughty Ferry train stations, and get off in Dundee City Centre.

If you are staying at Halfway Houses Clootie & Cranachan, self-catering accommodation, Carnoustie on the run up to Halloween and you’re looking for something to do, Brechin Castle Centre is a 36 minute drive away. Enjoy the scenery on route. They also do a similar thing for the festive season.

Webster Memorial Theatre is a 14 minute drive away, and Forfar Reid Hall is a 25 minute drive from Halfway Houses Clootie & Cranachan, self-catering accommodation, Carnoustie

They are great smaller venues that host a huge variety of entertainment to suit everyone.

🍁🍂 ☀️🌦️🥶🌤️🍃OCTOBER WEATHER

What a difference a couple of days make! Typical Scottish autumnal weather… 2 days ago the skies were a beautiful blue (as the photos show), and even though the temperatures were low, it felt really pleasant. Today it is cloudy and very cold!!!

But, that’s ok! That’s the beauty of October here on the East Coast of Scotland - the leaves change colour daily, and how lucky are we to get to see these gorgeous colours 🍁

Just over a week ago our Guests were treated to a spectacular Northern Lights display 🌌

☔️🌦️ A fair bit of this week is forecast as rain. Many of us enjoy that though. Not everyone is a sun worshipper - so long as we have weather appropriate attire, it’s all good - just remember to pack enough to cover 4 seasons, throughout the year!!! 🤣

🏘️🛌 🫧♨️ Our modern self-catering cottages with farmed field views, garden hot tubs and fire pits - fab for toasting marshmallows (unless it’s too windy), and comfy beds are ideal whatever the weather is.

🗺️📺 There is loads to do out and about indoors - around Angus and Dundee, or if you don’t want to trail out, why not stay put and enjoy our quirky decor, artistic radiators, cosy blankets and TV’s (in the living room and bedrooms).

I just love this time of year and our Guests who stayed in Halfway Houses Clootie & Cranachan (a group of friends catching up with one another, and a family celebrating their daughter’s birthday), had a lovely time this past weekend too.

Huge thanks to them, and to all who have chosen to stay at the houses, and to all involved with the houses.

There are lovely beach-side walks, umpteen golf courses, lots of indoor play for all ages, terrific Theatres, shops, bars and a huge variety of places to eat - all a short car journey away, or you can get Supermarket / Just Eat deliveries, AND there is the fantastic Angus Alchemy Distillery which has Connekt EV Charging units, right next door.

Campbell from Angus Alchemy was at The Yard Market by Broughty Castle Museum today 🥃🍹

The Distillery (our neighbours), produce award-winning luscious Moonshines - including Clootie & Cranachan (our houses were named after them), and Gins - including Paul Lawrie OBE, Open Championship Winner at Carnoustie Golf Links in 1999’s, very own Scottish Gin.
