Lee/Fitzgerald Architects first contacted us after an online search led them to our website. Through our discussions with Tim Lee, the lead designer and coordinating architect for the project, we were able to develop a design based on our Victorian Spiral Staircase range with the addition of a specially commissioned fascia developed from a reference image from another staircase in the chapel.

With forecasts of more heatwaves ahead of us, some may be thrilled for the opportunity to spend more time in the shorts. However, if you prefer colder climates and snow slopes, you might be looking forward to a future ski trip to the French Alps.

If you want to see one of our staircases abroad, we created a square spiral staircase for The Lovely Chalet Company at Chalet Marmotte located in the La Plagne region of France.

We are always happy to work with customers overseas and have manufactured pieces for properties of all sizes around the world. For this project, we brought a touch of 19th Century England to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with a spiral staircase and matching balustrade, fitting on a property in the city of Boulder, Colorado.

With all of our staircases, we begin by forming CAD designs outlining the style and dimensions of the structure to ensure any changes can be made before the staircase is manufactured.

Standing at 3.26 meters, this impressive cast aluminium staircase features 12 Victorian-style spiral treads, with each tread featuring an ornamental infill panel and spindle to form the balustrade.

This project, Portland House, was of considerable historic value. Because of this, the plans needed to be approved by CADW, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service, which works to ensure the protection of Wales’ historic environment.

Grade 2* listed properties are often unique and Portland House was no different. Not one of the building’s walls were square, so a combination of our 3D computer aided designs (CAD) and some old-fashioned tape measuring was essential to the process of making adjustments, as well as the valuable expertise of local blacksmith, Scott Mayes of SM Welding & Fabrication , and builder and site manager, Tom Jenkins.

At British Spirals & Castings, quality begins long before installation. For projects such as Stockholm Wine Bar, our craftspeople use traditional greensand casting techniques and our own mould designs, giving us close control over the source material and the final cast components.

That commitment to process is what underpins the quality seen in every staircase we produce.

If your bank holiday weekend plans made you realise you need to reconfigure your property to create more room for your family or entertaining, have you considered installing a bespoke spiral staircase?

Spiral staircases are one of the best options for saving space without sacrificing aesthetics. They're generally more space-efficient because of their curved design, which makes them easier to fit into a smaller footprint. Instead of stretching out across the floor, spiral stairs wind around a central pole, making better use of vertical space and reclaiming areas that might otherwise go unused.
