Wonderful news from Sri Lanka. A huge thank you to Sri Lanka Railways and the Tri Forces for their tireless efforts in restoring part of this beautiful and iconic stretch of the scenic train journey.
Train services (daily):
• Ambewella → Badulla: 9:00 AM & 3:00 PM

Ambewella is just 15 minutes from Nuwara Eliya. Trip being operating in this area for many years. It is an excellent base for exploring Horton Plains National Park. Many of our client would have stayed in The Plains Green or Warwick Garden
Ambewella is often referred to as “Little New Zealand”, Ambewella is renowned for its rolling green hills, dairy farms, strawberry fields, and the famous Ambewella Dairy Farm—a true highlight of Sri Lanka’s hill country.
The area is a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to 20 of Sri Lanka’s 34 endemic bird species.

We are raising funds to support families affected by Cyclone Ditwarh in Heeloya and nearby villages in the Knuckles Region of Sri Lanka. Severe weather has disrupted livelihoods, damaged homes, and limited access to food and basic supplies.

Heeloya is a small, remote village in Sri Lanka’s Knuckles Region, where families live closely connected to the land through farming and traditional rural livelihoods. Surrounded by mountains and forests, the community depends on agriculture and nature for daily survival.

For years, Earth Trip has worked alongside Heeloya’s families, supporting them through responsible community tourism—sharing home-cooked meals, cultural experiences, and guiding hikes in the Knuckles. This partnership has provided vital income and dignity to the community.
