IMPORTANT NOTICE - Due to a rare red warning of extreme heat, GWR are warning customers to only travel if essential tomorrow and Thursday.

Extreme heat can cause rails to expand and buckle, so when temperatures reach certain thresholds, trains must run more slowly to keep services safe. This will mean fewer trains and slightly longer journey times during the warmest periods of each day.

Please note - Due to the extreme weather forecast Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway have suspended services until Saturday. Full details below.

Temporary Closure Due to Extreme Weather

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway has taken the difficult decision to suspend all train services until Saturday 27th June due to the exceptionally high temperatures forecast across the region this week. This means that we will not be operating on 23rd, 24th and 25th June.

The Cotswold Halt Cafe at Toddington will also be closed until the weekend.

The safety and wellbeing of our volunteers, staff and passengers is our highest priority. Many railway duties are undertaken outdoors or in environments where temperatures can become significantly higher than the forecast air temperature, including on locomotive footplates, station platforms and lineside locations.

As a volunteer-led heritage railway, we believe it is the responsible course of action to pause operations during this period of extreme weather.

All affected passengers and group bookings are being contacted directly. Customers who have booked tickets will be contacted regarding their options.

We appreciate that this news will be disappointing, particularly for those who had planned to visit us this week, and we thank everyone for their understanding and support.

We look forward to welcoming visitors back from Saturday 27th June.
