One of your last chances to see the Black 5 thundering down the line, with the GWSR fleet alongside her. Goods trains both days, brake van rides on Saturday for £10 a trip 🎟️ and kids go for a quid!

The Times and Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival returns today, bringing ten days of inspiring conversations, brilliant stories and thought-provoking ideas to festival-goers 📚

From exploring the Festival Village and browsing the bookshop to discovering new authors, enjoying free family activities, letter-writing stations and hearing from some of the biggest names in literature, politics, history, sport and entertainment, there's plenty to experience over the next ten days ✍️

Whether you're booking tickets or simply soaking up the festival atmosphere, it's a wonderful time to be in Cheltenham 🍂

Step back to 1066 at Tewkesbury Abbey this autumn ⛪

From 22 October 2026, From Conquest to Kingdom: The Bayeux Tapestry and Norman Heritage Trail will bring one of history's greatest stories to life in one of Britain's finest Norman buildings.

Featuring a full-scale printed reproduction of the Bayeux Tapestry, the exhibition invites visitors to discover the events of 1066 within the very world it helped create, surrounded by Tewkesbury Abbey's remarkable Norman heritage.

Important notice by the National Highways: South-West. Please plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to travel to Cheltenham, especially those travelling for the last weekend of Cheltenham Festivals Literature Festival.

⚠️ Plan ahead! The M5 near Gloucester will be closed in both directions between junctions 11 and 12 (including J11a) from 11pm Friday 16 October until 6am Monday 19 October.

👷‍♀️ The closure is part of our works to safely demolish two footbridges over the M5 as their condition has deteriorated.

🚧 In addition to the weekend closure, junction 11a northbound exit slip road will be closed 24/7 from 11pm on Sunday 11 October. The slip road will remain closed for approximately two weeks. This is to create a safe works compound to store the large machinery required for the demolition of the footbridges.

🚗 Diversion routes will be in place, which are expected to be very busy. Please follow diversion signs and not sat navs.

🔶 Where possible, plan your journey for a different time.
