We may all be best of friends now, but there was a time when England and Wales were at loggerheads, and both sides built impressive fortresses to keep one another at bay. On this fascinating tour we travel around the Welsh borders, telling tales of some the fortifications that played a part in this story. Luckily, once relations improved, many castles got prettier and we get the chance to visit fine examples of lavish properties and the stunning gardens that often went with them. From atmospheric country houses and imposing castles to glorious gardens, the Welsh borders are scattered with historic gems to explore. On this fascinating tour we learn the secrets of these impressive estates as we discover the ‘upstairs, downstairs’ life of Erddig, venture to the medieval dun...
