📢🔎BRAMPTON MILE OPPORTUNITY 🔎📢

Yesterday was our last Brampton Mile Great Historic Pub Crawl of 2026, thanks to everyone that joined us.

Shaun says he’s not getting any younger and this monumental crawl is just too much for his old legs.

We would like to continue providing this Pub Crawl next year, but it seems we need a new Tour Guide.

🚂🍴PUB REVIEW - THE RAILWAY, WHALEY BRIDGE🍴🚂

On our way home from Wales, we decided to stop off somewhere for lunch. Diverting to Whaley Bridge, just inside Derbyshire, we discovered that The Railway was open and serving food.

Following a delicious sausage sandwich and cheesey chips, we met Lee and Emma, the new tenants. Inglenook have given them scope to redevelop the pub as they have a wealth of experience running pubs in the East Midlands.

The kitchen has already been modernised and a delightful cafe area has been created in the old pool room that reminded Shaun of some seaside pubs from his childhood.

If you're out that way on a walk alongside the canal, it's a great value place for a meal and/or a drink. This friendly, family run pub even does Sunday Lunch that you might want to try.

👑👤PUB REVIEW - KING’S HEAD, LLANDUDNO👤👑

Formed from 300-million-year-old carboniferous limestone, the Great Orme stands as a massive 679-foot headland jutting directly into the Irish Sea at Llandudno, with the King's Head—the town's oldest pub—at its base.

We popped in on the last dry day of our holiday after taking the tram to the top of the Great Orme. The Kings Head is very close to the tram station and is an excellent pub. We are coming home soon and our next pub tour is the Brampton Mile on bank holiday Sunday 30th August. Text 07908 183160 if you would like to join us on this most famous of pub crawls.

🤺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿PUB REVIEW - ERSKINE ARMS, CONWY🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤺

Still on our Hop on, Hop Off red route trail, we spotted the Erskine Arms. This is obviously a very old pub with a large number of rooms dedicated to their restaurant business. Drinkers are somewhat relegated to a back room bar and yard, it was still a very nice place to be.

It turns out that the Erskine name comes from Scotland. A noble family descended from a brave foot soldier who was given the name by the King of Scotland.

We ended up staying longer than expected and caught one of the last buses back to our holiday let on West Shore.

🚌🍺PUB REVIEW - SOMEPLACE ELSE, LLANDUDNO🍺🚌

A great way to spend the day here in Llandudno is the Hop on, Hop Off bus. The Red route takes you through the town and down to Conwy and runs every 20 minutes.

Fortunately, close to one of stops is a micropub called Someplace Else. We were greeted warmly and enjoyed a couple of halves after which we tried to record a video before the next bus came. Watch the very short video to find out how we did.

🏘️🏠 PUB REVIEW -THE TOWN HOUSE, LLANDUDNO 🏠🏘️

Find out which TV legend we spotted outside this unassuming pub, our first stop on the second half of our Welsh Odyssey.

Apparently it was previously called The Prince of Wales and locals still call it the Plumes, due to the fleur de lys emblem.

Shaun also tries Strongbow Strawberry for the first time.

🛤️🪨 PUB REVIEW - THE RAILWAY INN , ANGLESEY 🪨🛤️

We received a warm Welsh welcome at this little pub built directly into the Rock face. On wet days, the rain literally runs down the back wall of the pub.
There would have been more rock to enjoy but unfortunately the cost of live music licenses is preventing landlords from putting on bands on week nights.

Shaun tried the popular beer in this area J W Lees, the lager has a strong, sharp flavor that lingers.

⛵🏠PUB REVIEW - THE BOATHOUSE, RED WHARF BAY🏠⛵

Just a hundred yards from the Ship Inn, we came across an eatery/pub called The Boathouse. Fortunately, they had a little table for two.

Still relatively full from the excellent full Welsh breakfast at the hotel, we opted for a Greek salad and a small portion of fish and chips, both were very good.

🚢💡PUB REVIEW - SHIP INN, ANGLESEY💡🚢

Here's Shaun with another pub review from Anglesey, Ship Inn at Red Wharf Bay.

This pub dates back to the 1500s and is off the beaten track. Very quaint with some real Ales and Ciders on handpull.

The pub and the menu seems very popular as it was busy when we arrived about teatime.

💪💪PUB REVIEW - THE BOLD ARMS, ANGLESEY💪💪

The Bold Arms in Beaumaris is an unassuming little place near the George and Dragon. We would recommend it for a quiet pint and a bite to eat.
