Did you know Victoria Falls in Scotland sits on the Abhainn Garbhaig river and drops down toward Loch Maree in Wester Ross? The falls get their name after Queen Victoria visited here in 1877 and make a calm natural stop on the NC500 scenic route.

📍 Getting there: Drive the A832 between Kinlochewe and Gairloch. Look for the signposted small car park on the loch side; parking is free and the path to the viewing area is short and easy.

Add this hidden Highland waterfall to your Scotland road trip. Book your campervan with Campervantours and get discounts for 2026 bookings.

👀 What to expect:
• A quick walk of about 150 metres from the car park to the falls viewing platform.
• Cascading tiers of water framed by woodland and hills.
• Loch Maree views across the water from paths nearby.
• A quiet brief stop perfect for photos or a picnic.

Nearby options for your campervan
• Wild camping spots along the A832 with views toward Loch Maree.
• Beinn Eighe Campsite near the nature reserve south of the falls.

Cafes and restaurants nearby
• Loch Maree Hotel for drinks and local meals by the loch.
• Gairloch village cafés a short drive west with simple food and coffee.

Did you know the Lochranza Distillery on the Isle of Arran makes some of Scotland’s finest single malt in a coastal village setting? It’s just off the ferry terminal at the north end of the island, easy to reach after your Arran arrival.

Include this whisky stop on your Scotland route 🚐. Book your campervan with Campervantours and get discounts for 2026 bookings.

The distillery opened in the 1990s as the island’s official legal whisky producer after centuries of local spirit making. Since then it has grown a strong global reputation for smooth, fruity Arran single malts.

At the Visitor Centre you’ll find tasting flights, whisky experiences, a shop with limited editions, and Casks Cafe upstairs for coffee, lunch, cakes, and whisky by the dram. Guided tastings and tours are available by booking in advance.

Nearby options for your campervan
• Lochranza Campsite and Golf right across the road, with pitches, showers, and easy access to walks.
• Freedom camping options on Arran’s northern backroads if you prefer quiet coastal spots.

Cafes and restaurants nearby
• The Distillery’s Casks Cafe for light meals and whisky.
• Lochranza Country Inn for traditional pub food and local ales.
• The Sandwich Station at the pier for simple sandwiches and hot drinks.

📍Claonaig sits on the east coast of the Kintyre peninsula in western Scotland. You reach it by driving the A83 from Tarbert or Campbeltown, then turning onto the minor B8001 road down to the shore. It’s a small hamlet with a slipway for the seasonal Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Lochranza on the Isle of Arran in summer.

🚐 You can rent your Campervan with Campervan Tours and get huge discounts from Spring - Summer.

The name comes from Gaelic and means a “sloping bay,” pointing to its gentle harbour setting. The ferry crossing takes about 30 minutes across Kilbrannan Sound, giving open water views and distant hills.

You see
• A quiet coastal port and waiting area
• Water views out to Arran
• Scenic fields and rolling hills around you
• Walks along minor roads and shore edges

Nearby options for your campervan
• Claonaig Ferry Terminal area parkups near the slipway and along B8001 flat roadside spots.
• Wild camping pullouts along the Kintyre coast toward Skipness.

Cafes and restaurants nearby
• In Skipness village a short drive north look for local cafés and Seafood Cabin for fresh catches.
• Tarbert village 10 miles away has pubs and harbour-side food spots.

Include Claonaig on your west coast loop if you want ferry access to Arran and quiet Scottish views.
