Well that brings to the end of an amazing trip, just on my own this one, we all rush down to the south but have to say the northern coastline is stunning, and can’t recommend Honfleur enough.

This trip was planned last October, with a good friend, Colin, he knew he didn’t have long, but this trip we planned to stay in northern France area in case he became ill and we needed to get him home, just one last trip,

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be and he passed away last December, the last photo was taken, me and Colin, on October 31st, away in Norfolk,

All I will say is “live your dreams” that was pretty much the last thing Colin said to me,

Morning to you all Early start this morning, lovely and cool, just stopped of at this amazing place

Yesterday took us from the north east of France to the coast, straight thru the centre of Paris, even saw the Eiffel Tower, it was a long journey but I wanted to here in Honfleur, today we cross the bridge and head back to Calais, along the stunning coast road,

Seems France has started to adopt a new motorway toll method,
The A13 motorway on the west of Paris is online toll only, there is no toll booths,
I believe you can register an account with you bank details and be billed automatically or just go online and pay afterwards (within a 72 hour period)

I wonder if because I’ve used a tag it has associated my number plate and billed me, as currently says no paper due, I know I’m going to forget 🙄🫣

Part of the trip is to test out the new Garmin Tread 2 sat nav, it’s very good off-road following a track, and you can convert them tracks to routes for voice routing,
Today we came across a closed road, god knows where it was diverting me too, but your see it loves to take you on off-road track 🙄 even when your not on that bike,
Later realised it was all in the settings,

Open roads, awesome

We all mostly head to the south, but for something nearer the Belgium/French border has some stunning scenery not to be underestimated

Also the Vosges mountains

Some of you would have met our friend Colin,

Colin and his Wife Tracey have been friends of ours for nearly 40 years, Colin even gave my wife Karen away at our wedding back in 1996, they both have been a big part of our life our children's life as their children are also ours,

He had been on many of my Lost World trips, including in 2024 to Morocco in his truck, Pyrenees and Dordogne on his motorcycle and Norway in the Summer with his family, He was also due in 2025 to come to the Black forest and Dolomites motorcycle tour but unfortunately was unable to.

In March 2025 we met Colin and his wife in London for a birthday meal, he said he had a pain in his side and was going to the doctors, after tests that pain turned out to be Cancer, one of the worst types, long story short, at the end of October we all went away to Norfolk, went for walks, a meal, and me and him planned to do a small motorcycle trip next May, he was in really good spirits and very positive.

After arriving home Colin unfortunately became unwell, he was due mid November to come to the motorcycle show at the NEC with a group of us, but was too unwell, his condition worsened and sadly Colin Passed away in December,

Colin had a big heart, loved the Outdoors and adventures, I know a lot of you would have met him, and some knew he was ill, the motorcycle trip this year we added him to the group chat as most people on the trip knew hm already,

Later this week we say goodbye to Colin, one of his sons, Lewis has set up a Just giving page for donations to MacMillan, I add the link below.

Some of his last words to me was “go live your dreams Gaz”

Fly high mate.
