ITS guest Jo has just returned from White Stallion in Arizona. She has sent us these great pictures and here's what she thought about it:

"Great first experience of a western riding holiday at a ranch! Beautiful location and lovely accommodation. Very friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. Delicious food all buffet style with plenty of options.

The riding was good fun- you have to start with a slow ride no matter previous experience and do a lope test (canter) to ensure you are safe to go on a fast ride and matched with a horse that you are on for the whole trip. Variety of rides to choose from- slow, fast, mountain rides, breakfast rides and some half day rides.

There is no trotting on the fast rides just walk or lope and is single file nose to tail. The wranglers know the horses really well and arrange the order accordingly, with flexibility to change if needed. The cattle penning and sorting is really good fun and would definitely recommend trying. The wranglers were all really nice and care about the horses."

ITS guest Melissa visited Rocking Z in Montana back in July. She sent us some wonderful pictures and here's what she had to say:

"I had a fantastic week in Montana. The horses were great with lots of opportunity for long lopes (canters). I was well matched to my horse and we even got to try barrel racing and herding the cattle. The scenery was stunning and we even saw an eagle and a moose.

The hosts went out of their way to make us feel at home and ensure that we had the best experience possible. Several of the other guests had been there multiple times and it's easy to see why. Highly recommended. "

The Defender Burghley Horse Trials start today!

We're raring to go and can't wait to see you for a glass of bubbles and a chat about all things riding holidays. We're in our usual spot near to the main arena and collecting ring (stand C30).

Abbie here - I had the most incredible, amazing, special experience on the Maasai Mara Safari in Kenya last month.

The game viewing was exceptional; from watching a tiny elephant calf shelter from the rain under his Mother's tummy, young male giraffes 'necking' in mock combat, hyenas coming down to drink near our camp on the Mara River and monster crocodiles cruising through the water.

Gordie and Felicia's horses are something else - beautiful, brave and forward going, they were treated as athletes and are an absolute delight. The rush of cantering across the wildlife rich Mara plains on the wonderful 'Zulu' will stay with me forever.

It's hard to describe the feeling of being in such a special place, waking up to birdsong, immersing yourself in the wild, and every single hour of every day being an adventure in itself. Just wow, from beginning, to middle to end!

The exciting Defender Burghley Horse Trials starts on Thursday and we can't wait!

We'll be there 3-6 September in our usual spot, near to the main arena and the collecting ring.

😍Glowing feedback for the Wolves and Wild Horses ride in northern Portugal 😍

In The Saddle client, Greta, had a wonderful time with Pedro and Mariana during her stay in June. Here are some of her wonderful comments, alongside a few lovely photos taken on her trip:

"Exceptional Holiday.
The horses are clearly beloved members of the family. I had the privilege of riding a beautiful Lusitano mare named Mel - Portuguese for "Honey." I enjoyed every moment with her. Each day's ride offered completely different scenery and adventures.
Pedro and Marianna, are exceptional hosts who clearly love what they do. The food is simply too delicious. Marianna also effortlessly accommodated different dietary preferences.
The guesthouse was everything I could have hoped for - a perfect blend of historic Portuguese charm and modern comfort. It was warm, welcoming, beautifully maintained. I truly wanted for nothing during my stay.
This trip exceeded every expectation I had.
I absolutely plan to return. I can honestly say I won't hesitate for a second to book this adventure as a solo traveller again."
