We hired a car from Sphinx International Airport with Sixt and explored Egypt at our own pace — from the iconic Giza pyramid complex and ancient Saqqara, all the way to Marsa Alam along the Red Sea coast.

Before the trip we’d heard a lot of advice saying don’t drive, take a driver, or fly. As a family of six we wanted the freedom to explore on our own schedule — and honestly, it was one of the best parts of our Egypt adventure.

A few things we learned:

- Keep your eyes on the road — traffic can change quickly
- Ask the hire company which fuel number your car uses
- Google Maps doesn’t always reflect the newest roads, so if in doubt follow the road signs

The roads surprised us. Outside the busier city areas there were long quiet stretches, desert landscapes, and some incredible views along the way.

Kayaking the Dordogne river in france is an excellent place to try out kayaking. We took our own kayaks but there are a number of companies who hire out for half or full day.

The route is beautiful, plenty of places to stop and relax or eat a picnic.

The views of la Roque- Gageac from the water are incredible.

✨ A real-life fairytale with the kids at Mont Saint-Michel!

Visiting Mont Saint-Michel as a family is like stepping into a storybook 🏰 From the moment you spot the island rising out of the sea, it feels magical—and little explorers will love every second of the adventure.

We wandered through the narrow cobbled streets, climbed winding paths up to the abbey, and took in breathtaking views across the bay. The sense of history is incredible, but it’s also such a fun place for kids to explore (and burn off some energy along the way!).

👣 Family highlights:
• Crossing the causeway with amazing views
• Exploring hidden corners and tiny streets
• Climbing up to the abbey (worth it for the views!)
• Watching the tides change around the island

💡 Top tips:
• Go early or later in the day to avoid crowds
• Wear comfy shoes – there are LOTS of steps!
• Bring snacks or plan stops (little legs need fuel!)

Did you know you could kayak down the canals in London?

We kayaked down the canals and stopped off at Camden Lock for delicious icecream from Hans & Gretal.

We pay for a yearly licence via the paddleuk.org.uk website, check for updated prices.(not sponsored post). They also give you great maps for locations to lauch the kayaks.

✨ Egypt with kids… an adventure we’ll never forget!

It’s one thing seeing the pyramids in photos, but being there, walking inside them… And then… the Red Sea 🐢🌊
Swimming alongside beautiful sea turtles was just magical. Calm, clear waters and moments that felt straight out of a documentary — the kids absolutely loved it (and so did we!).

Egypt surprised us in the best way. History, adventure, and unforgettable family moments all in one trip.

The stunning Clovelly village in North Devon is a brilliant family day out. Why not see how long you can stand under the cascading waterfall down at the beach! Wander down the cobbled streets free from the noise of traffic, take a look around the fisherman's cottage and enjoy the treats at the end! Dont forget to visit the resident donkeys and try a fun painting ceramic session at Clovelly Pottery. We loved it!
