India Unfiltered: A Journey Across Culture, Chaos & Charm!
14 Nights Tailormade Tour from £2386pp
Travel Date: 9 March 2026
It’s the halfway point in the journey, and the road through India is far from straight. Inspired by the BAFTA winning Race Across the World, this 14-night adventure follows a path both ancient and alive from the spiritual heart of Varanasi to the cloud-wrapped sanctuaries of Dharamshala, with every kilometre travelled by train, bus, rickshaw or foot.
Our Journey begins in Mumbai, a chaotic, cinematic explosion of life where colonial-era train stations stand beside glass towers and beachside street food stalls pulse late into the night. From there, the route leads inland to Varanasi, India’s oldest living city and a place where time feels suspended. On the banks of the Ganges, firelight flickers against water as priests perform the Ganga Aarti at dusk. At sunrise, you drift by boat past ancient steps and everyday rituals: shaving heads, washing clothes, scattering ashes. It’s both intimate and infinite. Varanasi doesn’t just welcome you in, it holds up a mirror.
From the spiritual to the romantic, you stop in Agra to witness the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal, viewed not from the front gates, but from across the river at sunset quiet, reflective, and every bit as powerful. Delhi follows: vibrant, layered, and relentless. Cycle rickshaws take you through the maze of Old Delhi, past spice markets and silk merchants, as mosques rise through the smog and the new city churns just beyond.
And then, the land begins to rise...........
From Delhi, the journey climbs nearly 7,000 feet north into the Himalayan foothills to reach McLeodGanj, a hill station nestled in the Kangra Valley. This is Dharamshala, home to the Tibetan government-in-exile and His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The air cools, the streets quiet, and the mountains open wide. Here, you’ll walk the sacred Kora circuit alongside robed monks, breathe in pine forests on a short trek into the hills, and sit in silent temples where the echoes of struggle and peace coexist.
A slow, immersive race through landscapes and lives. It’s India as it really is raw, reverent, and breathtakingly real.
