✨Much sparkle has been added to my Summer with ice cream this year! ✨

🍦Granted, I haven’t tried them all (still got some Summer left to try though!) but these have been my top pics so far ⭐️

In no particular order:

Claydons, Colchester - a very generous two scoops cost me £4.50 of Kelly's of Cornwall ice cream. I went for mint choc chip + chocolate and wasn’t disappointed. Big chunks of chocolate in both flavours!

Ice Cream on the Quay, Harwich - this was GREAT! £4 bought me a smarties sundae 😍 In that I got Mr Whippy, chocolate sauce, smarties and a little branded wafer too. Eating this by Harwich waterfront was really lovely. Mr Walking Tours had an Oreo sundae which was equally great if not better.

Hotel Chocolat - £3.72 for their Ice Cream of the Gods (soft serve ice cream which has been infused with cocoa), a chocolate shard and hazelnut sauce. This was so good! A real treat but more spenny. I got this price by using my Hotel Chocolat membership card which gets you a decent discount in their cafe!

Proof - if we needed any - that Colchester loves to dress up! As Romans, stormtroopers, super heroes, knights…Whether it’s the Colchester Pageant or 1909 or the Roman and Medieval Festival of 2026, it’s somehow become part of who we are 🏛️❤️

⁉Did you know that every month, FREE lunchtime organ recitals take place in Colchester Town Hall? You can hear the magnificent Moot Hall Organ (which is over 120 years old!!) in the elegant backdrop of (the recently re-opened after major restoration work) ✨ Moot Hall ✨

Each recital has a different guest organist from other cities across the UK📍and is a unique opportunity to hear this impressive instrument in a stunning and historic location 🤩

❄️ Happy World Snow Day ❄️ to all those who celebrate! Here’s a snapshot of some lovely snowy memories I have walking through Colchester over the years 🥰

A public information post to say that is perhaps the BEST location for catching the winter rays of sunshine from the comfort of being inside 😎🧣

In fact, I’ll just say that it’s probably the cosiest place to be this Winter. Here me out:

✅ It’s FREE to visit!‼️

✅ Art exhibitions from world class artists 🧑‍🎨

✅ An incredibly reasonably priced and exceptionally tasty food menu!! See the delicious Firstsite Fishfinger Sandwich pictured which cost £3.75 😯

✅ It has huge windows to catch the whatever golden pools of sunshine we can get 🌞

✅ It’s home to a huge Roman mosaic covered in glass so you can walk over it and check it out in DETAIL! 🏛️

✅ It has toilets! 🚻

✅ Good quality colouring pencils on hand for anyone wanting to draw! ✏️

✅ Great location - visit the planted Meanwhile Garden after or take a trip to another fantastic art gallery, or the brilliant vegan cafe .cafe which is a stone’s throw from Firstsite 😌
