Incoming! 🏗️ Exciting times as an original Banksy artwork is craned into the Minories! 🙌

When your art is painted onto large concrete walls, displaying it in a gallery can be quite a challenge! There was a real buzz this afternoon as some of the final pieces arrived for the Minories’ new exhibition, Out of Line: Banksy and the Art of Dissent.

🎨 This major exhibition opens tomorrow, bringing 28 original artworks by Banksy to Colchester, alongside work by more than 20 leading street and urban contemporary artists.

We're delighted to have supported the exhibition as part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening the city's cultural offer and supporting The Minories as an important cultural venue. 👍

📅 The show runs until 28 February. In a change to the Minories’ usual free entry, visitors will need a paid ticket with a booked time slot.

As far back as the Roman Conquest in AD43 when it became the base for the Roman Army's Legio XX Valeria Victrix (that's the 20th Legion to you and I 😉), Colchester has been established as a proud Garrison Town🛡️

Later the Siege of Colchester, saw the town caught in the crossfire of fierce and bloody combat ⚔🔥Later still, the British Army stationed troops at Colchester barracks during the Napoleonic Wars and both World Wars 🎖️
