The stories hidden in every stone… 🇬🇪

Standing quietly amongst the mountains of Svaneti, these ancient stone towers have watched over families, villages and valleys for centuries.

Generations have lived beneath them. Traditions have endured around them. And today, they remain part of everyday life in this extraordinary corner of Georgia.

Centuries later, these stones are still telling Svaneti’s story.…

🌄 Seeing out a spectacular summer in Eryri last weekend.

What a super summer it’s been in our home mountains and lakes!

We rounded off a very busy few months last weekend with two brilliant adventures – our iconic Snowdon Challenge, biking, hiking & kayaking through Eryri 🚴🥾🛶, alongside another Snowdonia Hike, SUP & Sauna weekend for Much Better Adventures. Take a look at the little locals who popped by to join the SUP crew on the lake too… 🦆🦆

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us over the summer – first-time adventurers, charity fundraisers, corporate teams, private groups, familiar faces and everyone in between.

And a special shout-out to our brilliant Leaders, Support Crew & Drivers. Early starts, late finishes, encouragement, logistics, laughs and everything behind the scenes! We simply couldn’t do it without you. 💛

Summer might be drawing to a close, but we’re certainly not packing away the bikes, boots and boats just yet…

🔥 September is jam-packed with adventures across the UK and plenty more around the world.

Ready for something to look forward to? Explore what’s waiting for you at Adventurous Ewe. 🌍🐑

🇬🇪 LIVE FROM THE TRAILS | Svaneti Highlands Trek…

Two out of five days on foot in the spectacular Svaneti mountains in Western Georgia and the team are doing brilliantly.

Day 1 | Mestia → Mulakhi | 20km
A cracking first day through open meadows, woodland trails and traditional mountain villages, with Svaneti’s ancient stone towers and the peaks of the Greater Caucasus providing quite the backdrop.

Day 2 | Mulakhi → Adishi | 13km | 1,000m ascent
A big climb today through woodland and alpine meadows dotted with colourful wild flowers winding towards Ughviri Pass at 2,480m, before descending into the wonderfully remote village of Adishi. Low cloud drifting through the mountains made for a brilliantly atmospheric morning on the trail.

And it’s not just about the trekking. The family-run guesthouses have been incredibly welcoming, giving us a fascinating glimpse into everyday Svan life.

This morning some of the team watched bread being rolled and baked and the beginnings of the cheese-making process before hitting the trail.

Add in plenty of hearty Georgian food, centuries of history and very friendly four-legged locals 🐕, and we’re getting a real taste of life here in the high Caucasus.

Tomorrow brings another big one – 17km and a crossing of the Chkhutnieri Pass at 2,730m.

Join us in wishing the team strong legs and continued good weather as they head deeper into these spectacular mountains.

🏆 A little friendly reminder… we’d love your vote in the British Travel Awards! Voting closes in just 10 days!

Adventurous Ewe has been nominated for Best Travel Company for Adventure Holidays in the British Travel Awards 2026, and if you haven’t voted yet, we’d be hugely grateful for your support. 💛

This award recognises adventure travel companies that bring together exciting experiences, expert planning, safety and exceptional customer service. Inspiring people to get out there, explore the world and experience something extraordinary.

For a small, independent adventure company from North Wales, being shortlisted alongside some brilliant names in the industry means a huge amount to our entire team, both here in the UK and around the world.

And there’s something in it for you too! 🎁

Every valid vote is automatically entered into the British Travel Awards Voters’ Prize Chest, with the chance to win holidays, travel vouchers and experiences collectively worth over £30,000.

So your vote could help a small adventure company bring home a rather big award… and potentially send you off on an adventure of your own!

If you’ve travelled with us, worked alongside us, followed our adventures or simply believe in what a small independent travel company can achieve, we’d love your vote.

🐑 Adventurous Ewe
🏆 Best Travel Company for Adventure Holidays

Please vote and, if you can, share it with your fellow adventure-loving friends too.

Thank ewe! 💛

🌍 ADVENTURE-FILLED AUGUST 🐑

What a month. And a reminder that sometimes the biggest part of an adventure is simply deciding to give it a go.

⛰️ Mt Triglav, Slovenia – regular Ewes and new faces summiting Slovenia’s highest peak.

🇸🇪🥾🇳🇴 Nordic Hut-to-Hut – Jim & Sofia led our team through the wilds of Sweden into Norway.

🚴🥾🛶 4 x Snowdon Challenges – bike, hike & kayak through our home mountains of Eryri.

🥾🏄‍♀️🔥 2 x Hike, SUP & Sauna weekends – blue skies and big adventures in Eryri with Much Better Adventures.

⛰️🚴🛶 Lake District Challenge – bike, hike & kayak through a spectacular corner of the Lakes.

🇬🇪 Svaneti Highlands Trek – our first team is currently journeying into Georgia’s mighty Caucasus Mountains.

And beyond the trails…
🎬 More Than a Mountain has been selected for the Dundee Mountain Film Festival and Cyprus Film Festival.

🇳🇵 On 6 September, there’ll also be a charity screening at the Regal Cinema, Wadebridge, with an Everest talk from Jo Bradshaw raising funds for the Nepal flood emergency and honouring Junko Tabei’s incredible legacy.

📖 AE trekker Rosemary Brown was on BBC Women’s Hour re her book Moving Mountains, sharing the stories of pioneering female mountaineers – including Junko Tabei, whose footsteps Rosemary followed on our Yala Peak expedition.

🚤 Sue helmed the first all-female lifeboat crew training session in Conwy Lifeboat Station’s history.

🐘 On World Elephant Day we celebrated our partnership with How Many Elephants and the beehive we fund for every AE Kili trek.

🐶 Moshi’s best pal Monty (and his parents!) came to stay.

Live from the trails…🇬🇪
Day 2 in Georgia.

A jam-packed day on our journey towards the Svaneti Mountains, delving into the extraordinary and complex history of Georgia. A country shaped by ancient kingdoms, faith, invasion, empire and remarkable resilience.

Leaving Tbilisi behind, we travelled west to Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital and spiritual heart, taking in the incredible Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.

From there, we wound the clock back thousands of years at Uplistsikhe. An extraordinary ancient cave city carved into sandstone and once an important settlement along the Silk Road. Cave dwellings, tunnels, temples and even ancient wine cellars… 🍷

Then on to Gori, birthplace of Stalin, for a thought-provoking glimpse into one of history’s most controversial figures.

And fuelling all that exploring? An abundance of fantastic Georgian food. Plus plenty of adorable and very well cared-for Georgian dogs making friends with the team along the way. 🐕💛

Tonight we’ve reached Kutaisi. Heads full of history and insight into this fascinating and resilient country.

Tomorrow, the journey continues west and the mountains begin to take centre stage. ⛰️🇬🇪

🇬🇪 Touchdown in Tbilisi!

Our latest team have arrived in Georgia today, ready to journey deep into the wild and wonderful Svaneti Highlands. ⛰️🥾

But first, a day exploring Tbilisi – Georgia’s vibrant capital, where centuries of history, cultures and influences have shaped a fascinating mix of architecture, traditions and modern city life.

Ahead lies a point-to-point trek following part of the pioneering Transcaucasian Trail through soaring Caucasus peaks, remote valleys and ancient highland villages.

Each day brings a new trail and a new village, staying with local families in simple guesthouses and experiencing Svan hospitality, hearty mountain food and traditions that have endured for centuries.

With its ancient stone towers, spectacular landscapes and its own unique language, Svaneti feels like a living museum. A place where the mountains, people and culture are inseparable.

The adventure starts here. ❤️🤍

Join us in wishing the team an incredible journey through one of Georgia’s most extraordinary regions. 🇬🇪🐑

Nepal-Tibet Flooding Update…

You may have seen the devastating scenes emerging from Nepal and Tibet following the recent flooding. Our hearts and thoughts are very much with everyone affected.

The loss of life is heartbreaking. We’re thinking of the families and communities who have lost loved ones, those whose homes and livelihoods have been affected, and everyone in the towns and villages now facing the difficult aftermath.

We’re in close contact with our long-standing local team in Nepal, who are thankfully safe. Based on the information we have at present, we don’t expect our upcoming Nepal trips or trekking routes to be affected. We’ll continue to monitor the situation closely with them as our October and November departures approach.

Nepal means a huge amount to all of us at Adventurous Ewe. We’ve been fortunate to work alongside our incredible guides, colleagues, communities and good friends there for many years. Right now, our focus is on supporting our team in whatever way we can.

As they told us:
“We will concentrate towards supporting our Travel Fraternity Colleagues who have lost their clients and team members and as well supporting the people in need from the region affected by this flash floods.”

We’ve also offered our support, and our team have asked us to give them a little time to understand where that support can make the greatest difference. We’ll speak with them again next week to identify the most appropriate way Adventurous Ewe can help and will share this with anyone who may also wish to support those affected.

We’ll remain in close contact with our team on the ground and provide further updates on our upcoming trekking trips as reliable information becomes available.

For now, our thoughts remain firmly with everyone affected across the region, particularly those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods, and the communities facing a difficult road ahead.

❤️🇳🇵

The Taj Mahal. Himalayan trails winding between remote mountain villages. The colours, sounds and flavours of Jaipur. Dharamshala and the Dalai Lama’s Temple. Nights beneath the foothills of the Himalayas.

And, if you stay a little longer, the glow of thousands of lamps as India celebrates Diwali. 🪔

26 October – 6 November 2026 | Guaranteed departure
6–9 November | Diwali Festival Extension | Guaranteed

Taj, Temples & Trails of the Indian Himalayas is designed as the ultimate intro to India – bringing together some of its great icons with the quieter places and human connections that often become the stories you remember most.

🕌 Stand before the Taj Mahal
🥾 Trek through the Indian Himalayan foothills
🏔️ Follow ancient trails through the Uhl Valley and remote villages
🙏 Visit Dharamshala and the Dalai Lama’s Temple
🐏 Meet Gaddi shepherds and local communities
🍛 Cook, eat and spend time with local hosts
🚂 Experience India by train as the country unfolds outside your window

Then there’s Diwali in Jaipur.
Extend your adventure for three nights and celebrate the Festival of Lights with a local family, sharing food, lighting traditional clay lamps and experiencing one of India’s most important celebrations from within the community.

One journey. From the Taj Mahal to the Himalayas, with the option to finish beneath the lights of Diwali.

With both departures now guaranteed, this is the last chance to join the small group heading to India this October.
