Another classic ship encounter today when Portsmouth Harbour tour goers had the privilege of getting up close to the preserved steam ship Shieldhall. Just listen to the Shieldhall's horn, a truly wonderful sound.

Yesterday saw Solent Cat working as tender boat to the historic paddle steamer PS Waverley, ferrying passengers to the meet up points at Portsmouth Commercial Port and later picking up passengers at anchor out in the Solent.

With special thanks to Ben Rue for capturing the Solent meet up between the two vessels.

Waverley is in the Solent area for much of September, and no doubt will be seen plenty more by our tour boats.

Don’t forget from next week we go to weekends only for the Day Trip to Portsmouth. This carries on throughout the rest of the year until next May when we will start our 7 days a week again (although it may be earlier). We wish we could do it every day but we need the numbers to keep it running. Please keep coming along. Liking our page and spreading the word for the cheapest way to cross the Solent!

Insanely busy bank holiday weekend capped off with Wight Scene filling in on Wightlink's Portsmouth to Ryde route yesterday.

Every boat was action over the weekend including a very windy Saturday. Onwards into September still plenty of tours and charters to fulfil.

COMING UP ON TUESDAY……Our popular Needles Cruise! Make the most of it now before the weather stops being our friend! Departing at 1030 from Thetis Wharf, Medina Road, Cowes PO31 7BX…… This 3 hour cruise will take you down to the Needles offering a full commentary on the way. Perfect way to finish the summer holidays with your family.

The Jenny R seen departing Priddys Hard which is home to the Explosion Museum, located over in Gosport.

The 'R' is the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard 'get on, get off' waterbus service to the Gosport attractions, the RN Submarine Museum at Haslar and the Explosion Museum. The latter is a serene short crossing that passes through Weevil Creek and the infamous Rat Island, (you can learn more about that on one of our harbour tours!)

The waterbus is accessible with the Ultimate Explorer ticket only and provides an 8 minute dash across the water.

Queues are likely at busy times and the boat is limited to 50 persons; all passengers are required to disembark on arrival.

The waterbus operates daily throughout the summer.
