La Solitaire du Figaro is one of the famous French single handed sailing events, and in June 2016, one of the stop-overs will be Cowes on the Isle of Wight. There are now two websites covering the event if you would like more information:

What is Destination Cowes? Only recently formed, Destination Cowes has been set up to promote Cowes, and to attract events of all types to the town. Still in its embryonic form, the following are just a few of the organisations who have expressed an interest in contributing to this initiative: Cowes Harbour Commission, Cowes Business Association, Cowes Yacht Haven, Red Funnel, and Cowes Town Council. Various other individuals, businesses, and bodies who mainly represent 'attractions' in the Cowes area, are also getting involved. The Destination Cowes initiative can only be a huge postive step for Cowes.
