One of my favourite things to do if 3 have a few minutes wait for hot tubs is to open up my Merlin app and listen in to the birds that are about. At this time of year there are lots to hear. This is a great app if you are interested to know who us about. If you install it before you visit you don't need a signal to use it. 🙂🐦 .bird.id

So a slightly unusual one today! Whilst filling The Beehive hot tub for today's arrivals I became aware of a little visitor. After watching and listening for a time I discovered that we have a dear little bluetit nesting under the eaves of The Beehive! My first reaction was how cool it was but then I was concerned whether she would bother guests at all. I have come and asked some lovely, trusted regulars that are staying in one of the shepherd huts for their thoughts. Their reaction was pretty much the same as mine, that it was lovely and the reason they come somewhere like this! As nature lovers and given how hard we try to support all things nature, really the only option is to let her stay and to hope that our guests are in a similar mindset. Don't you agree?

Perfect day to be sitting on the deck waiting for The Beehive hot tub to fill. The promises of Spring are everywhere! It's a lovely temperature to just sit with my crochet and listen to the birds. They are so busy today! Primroses, daffodils and bursting buds are everywhere. What a wonderful time of year! What signs of Spring are you enjoying at the moment? 🌞🌦️🌱🐝🐇🐣🐞

Firstly, hello and apologies for the very long radio silence! Life here has been busily ticking along as the short days put extra pressure on the farm. Thankfully we have not had too many snow and ice episodes although Storm Darragh did result in a few days of power cut at home. This definitely highlights the advantages of solar as the huts and treehouse were fine! Although it feels a long time since the alpacas were sheared we now have the yarn back from the mill so we have 100% alpaca DK yarn available from our boys.

Firstly excuse the shockingly poor photos!! All a bit too far away and not much time. Today on our livestock checks we were lucky enough to spot a Little Regret in the river meadow. Over the years we have seen them fairly often but mainly in the Autumn and Winter and I haven't seen one for a couple of years. Today he flew up into a tree and was soon followed by a grey heron. The egret took off and the heron sat for a few minutes. Then a second grey heron arrived and all three birds flew around a bit before heading over the fields. They were calling quite a lot. I'm unsure whether there was a territorial element to this but I do hope to see our little white visitor again soon.
