There’s just one month until Crewe Day Festival returns, and we’re so looking forward to it 😃

On Saturday, July 4th, the action will start at 12pm and continue until 6pm, with live entertainment, community activities, family fun and much more as we celebrate everything that makes our town special.

Crewe Day commemorates the anniversary of the first trains passing through Crewe Station, during the opening of the Birmingham to Manchester and Liverpool line on July 4th 1837. This is a key moment in the town’s industrial heritage and a catalyst for the creation of the Crewe we know today.

The event is free and is for the whole family, with more details and the full line-up coming soon.

Crewe and Nantwich have been building friendships across Europe for decades 🇬🇧🇪🇺

We’ve been twinned with Macon in France since 1957, Bischofscheim in Germany since 1991, and Dzierzoniow in Poland since 2005.

These connections started as a way to rebuild bridges after the Second World War, and they still matter today. Twinning can develop cultural, educational, sporting and recreational links for mutual benefit, particularly through exchange visits and tourism.

Through the Crewe and Nantwich Twinning Association, locals of all ages can link up with clubs, choirs, sports teams and groups in any of the three towns, and usually get hosted and fed as part of their trip. It’s about learning about new places, learning a foreign language, enjoying yourself, making new friends, and bringing everyone closer together.

If the recent sunshine has made you realise your sunglasses are past their best, Sherratt Opticians has a cracker of a deal on all month 😎

The independent practice on Nantwich Road has been looking after eyes in Crewe since 1990, offering everything from eye exams and contact lenses to OCT retinal imaging and children’s eye care.

They’re offering half-price sunglasses throughout June, so if you’ve been squinting your way through the good weather, now is the perfect time to sort that out. Brands in store include Ray-Ban, Emporio Armani, Swarovski, Ambri, Defender and many more.

Happy 1st June ☺️

Why not start the month with a wander around the shops, pick up whatever you need (and maybe a few things you don’t), then head to Waterstones and find a book worth getting lost in 📚

When you’re done, head for a well-deserved drink in British Lion, Crewe, which is excellent if you fancy a traditional pub setting, or try Hops - Belgian Bar, a Belgian-style bar that’s been in the Good Beer Guide since it opened in 2007 and a patio area that comes into its own in good weather like we’ve been enjoying recently.

If the thought of cooking tonight is too much to handle (or maybe it’s the thought of doing the dishes that’s putting you off), there are so many foodie spots on Nantwich Road to sit in and eat or grab something to go.

Along the length of the road, you’ll find burgers, pizza, chicken, Indian, Chinese, and so much more, so there’s plenty of inspiration if you need it. And, if your family can’t all decide on the same spot, you can get takeaway from several, and everyone can get what they fancy 😋

What’s your go-to place on Nantwich Road?

Getting around Crewe on two wheels has never been easier, and the recent good weather has been making it even better 🚲

The Southern Gateway route linking High Street and Forge Street has created a pedestrian and cycle path in the heart of town, connecting the railway station and Crewe Alexandra to the town centre. It also sets up a future link to the new Youth Zone, which will open later this year.

It’s part of the bigger Mill Street Corridor project, which continues to build out a shared cycleway and footway between Railway Street and Mill Street, along with new trees, lighting and green space.

CreweCreates CIC is a not-for-profit that started with a simple idea - to give local people a space to pursue their creative ambitions 🎨

Now based at Platform Gallery, the team runs free family workshops, supports local artists, and works with groups across the town to bring their events to life. That has included helping the Hindu network celebrate Diwali, which drew over 2,000 people, and they’re now supporting AfroFest ahead of their event on June 6th in Queen’s Park.

The gallery is currently home to Convergence, an exhibition of work by Cheshire College South and West’s fine art HND students, giving young creatives a real platform to show what they can do.

There’s something bigger on the horizon, too. Crewe has applied to become the first-ever UK Town of Culture, a government scheme with funding of up to £3 million available. The bid is backed by the Crewe Cultural Consortium and is a chance to celebrate Crewe's history and communities.

📍 Crewe Creates, Platform, 79 Market Street, Crewe, CW1 2BH.
🕣 Open Saturday, Monday and Wednesday from 10am until 2pm.

Crewe Pride is back at Lyceum Square on Saturday, June 13th, and it’s shaping up to be an incredible day celebrating the LGBTQ+ community 🏳️‍🌈

The Parade kicks off at 11.45am, and will see a colourful procession winding through the town centre before the main stage takes over for the afternoon. Running until 7.30pm, the event is completely free to attend, and everyone is welcome.

This year’s lineup brings tribute acts covering some big names - Chappell Roan, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and more - along with fantastic local performers and a wide array of food and drinks on sale to keep everyone fuelled throughout the day.

Radius and Crewe BID return as the headline sponsors for 2026, continuing the long-standing support of the event, alongside key partners Body Positive and Crewe Town Council, keeping the event free for everyone to enjoy.
