Today saw the unveiling of the World Harmony Peace Statue (Sri Chinmoy, the founder of the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run) at Cae Crwn Criccieth Nature Gardens.
Peace Runners from all over the world visited on the day and the statue was unveiled by Mabon ap Gwynfor MS and Chair of the Town Council, Cllr. Delyth Lloyd. This is the seventh and last of the statues to be installed in Wales
Amongst the guest a panel of speakers alongside representatives from Criccieth Town Council were Dafydd Iwan, Mabon ap Gwynfor, Lowri-Ann Richards and British sculptor Kaivalya Torpy who created the statue which now takes pride of place at Cae Crwn, Criccieth.
The Peace Run was the vision of Sri Chinmoy (1931-2007). He devoted his life to spreading the cause of peace around the world and inner and outer peace in each human being. He founded the Peace Run in 1987 and this is now the world's longest relay run. This peace statue is a gift to the people of Criccieth from the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run. When they visited here on 2 May 2025 they were struck by the town’s beauty and the warmth and spirit of the local people.
Since its founding in 1987, the Run has visited almost every country on earth – over 150 nations and territories – and touched the lives of millions of people.
The Peace Run does not seek to raise money or highlight any political cause. The simple goal is to create a feeling of goodwill among people of all nations.
The Peace Run is a worldwide relay run. Runners carry a torch – the Peace Torch. The torch is passed from hand to hand, from person to person, as they travel from nation to nation.

Sri Chinmoy (1931 - 2007) was a poet, painter, musician, composer, athlete and philosopher. He dedicated himseff to awakening the higher aspirations of mankind and worked tivelessly to promote the cause of world peace.

There shall come a time when this world of ours will be flooded with peace.
Who is going to bring about this radical change?
It will be you and I and we all together.
Our oneness-hearts will spread peace
Throughout the length and breadth of the world.”
