Òran na Mara is more than a holiday home - it is a meticulously crafted experience. We wanted to create somewhere that fitted the landscape in this stunning location.

The unique curved design is a deliberate homage to that landscape, ensuring that every room offers an uninterrupted, panoramic embrace of the islands, the endless ocean, the expansive Scarista beach, and the dramatic sunsets right into the sea. It is here that luxury and nature achieve perfect harmony.

Experience this architectural masterpiece during our remaining summer weeks: July 25th, August 22nd, or August 29th.

As part of a fundraising campaign I had the opportunity to venture on to the “Ben Nevis by the Mountain Path”

Romantically I envisaged vast landscapes, amazing views and solitude.

The path was properly and solidly built. There is no way you can get lost, more so because it rather felt like walking the Royal Mile. There were so many folk and it was only a Thursday I hate to think how many more there would be on the weekend.

The 17 km were easily done with the 1352 altitude being the only real challenge and the very summit being engulfed in clouds with some heavy rain outbreaks at times.

the views were breathtaking and plentiful.

We encountered some snow and the hike in the winter months must be very challenging. I had back plenty of clothes wrapped in plastic bags but only had to use some of it.on the way up I had noticed a lot of rubbish so on my descend I utilised my now spare plastic bags to collect it.

The mountain speaks not in words, but in cloud, wind, and light.

Ben Nevis rises from the earth like an ancient guardian, wrapped in mist and mystery. The clouds drift across its shoulders like passing thoughts, revealing and concealing its beauty in equal measure.

A shaft of sunlight breaks through the grey sky and, for a fleeting moment, an entire valley glows as though touched by heaven itself.

Then the light moves on.

The shadows return.

And the mountain changes its face once more.

Here, the wind carries stories older than memory. The rocks, the streams, the distant peaks stand in quiet conversation with the sky, while the traveller can do little more than pause, listen, and marvel.

There are places that impress us, and there are places that transform us.

Ben Nevis belongs to the latter.

Long after the path has ended and the boots have been put away, the mountain remains.

Not beneath our feet…

but within our hearts.”

Today, coming down from Ben Nevis, I filled an entire bag with rubbish left behind by other walkers.

I genuinely do not understand it.

If I can carry two full dog poo bags for 17 kilometres because there is no suitable bin, surely people can carry their empty water bottles, snack wrappers, and tissues back off the mountain as well.

Ben Nevis is one of Scotland’s most beautiful natural treasures. The mountain gives us incredible views, fresh air, challenge, and adventure. The least we can do in return is leave no trace behind.

Please take everything you bring up the hill back down with you. It is not somebody else’s job to clean up after us.

Leave only footprints. Take only memories. ❤️🏔️

Salt hangs in the air along the East Neuk of Fife, where ancient fishing villages still cling to the edge of the North Sea as though time itself forgot to move on.

Crail and Anstruther are places of weathered stone harbours, creaking fishing boats, lobster creels stacked against sea walls, and narrow wynds leading down towards the tide. For centuries these villages lived by the rhythm of the sea — herring fleets once filled these harbours, and even now the scent of salt, diesel, seaweed and fresh catch drifts through the coastal breeze. (Love from Scotland)

Along these shores, the sea has shaped everything: the people, the stories, the architecture, and the stubborn beauty of the East Neuk itself — “the eastern corner” of Fife. Red pantile roofs, crow-stepped gables and old fishermen’s cottages still stand against the wind as gulls wheel overhead and waves crash endlessly beneath the cliffs. (lucyliveshere)

And for Outlander fans… Anstruther carries a little cinematic magic of its own. The famous Reaper — one of Scotland’s last surviving traditional sailing fishing boats — appeared in the series, bringing a touch of Jacobite Scotland back to life upon these waters. (Love from Scotland)

Walk the Fife Coastal Path between Crail and Anstruther and you will find hidden coves, crashing surf, sea pinks dancing in the wind, and horizons that seem to stretch forever into the North Sea. This is Scotland at its rawest and most romantic — untamed, beautiful, and endlessly alive.

As the sun slowly slips beyond the ancient stones of St Andrews Cathedral, the sea glows gold and amber beneath a Scottish sky that seems to linger just a little longer for those who fall in love with this place.

The old cathedral stands proud against the fading light — centuries of stories, pilgrims, whispers and winds carried across the North Sea — while the gulls drift lazily above the ruins and the evening air softens the town into something almost dreamlike.

St Andrews is not simply visited. It stays with you.

Allow Starfish Travel to guide you through Scotland’s hidden beauty with carefully curated, tailor-made journeys designed entirely around you. Quiet sunsets, ancient history, winding coastal roads and unforgettable moments await.
