🇱🇰 Sri Lanka: the destination that seems to have a bit of everything

When people ask me for a holiday that’s more than just a hotel and a pool, Sri Lanka is often one of the first places that comes to mind.

📸 Photos really don't do it justice... 🐘

Looking back through my safari photos from Kenya recently, I was reminded just how incredible the whole experience was.

Over the course of the trip, we visited:

🦁 The Masai Mara – including an unforgettable hot air balloon flight at sunrise, drifting over the plains as the wildlife below started their day.

🦏 Lake Nakuru – where we were lucky enough to spot rhino!

🚤 Lake Naivasha – including a boat trip on the lake and a guided walking safari on Crescent Island, where zebra and giraffe roam freely around you.

🐘 Amboseli National Park – famous for its huge elephant herds and incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Our accommodation here was a highlight - views of Kilimanjaro from our bed and watching animals use the nearby watering hole from the infinity pool 😍

By the end of the trip, we'd seen 4 of the Big 5:
✔️ Lion
✔️ Elephant
✔️ Rhino
✔️ Buffalo

Sadly the leopard remained elusive!

But we also saw:
🦒 Giraffe
🦓 Zebra
🐆 Cheetah
🦌 Countless antelope species
🦅 So many different birds..and plenty more wildlife I probably couldn't name!

What surprised me most wasn't just the animals though. It was the variety of experiences, the beautiful lodges, the stunning scenery, how genuinely welcoming everyone we met was throughout the trip, and the extensive knowledge of all of the guides - we learnt so much!

Safari is one of those holidays that's very difficult to explain until you've experienced it yourself.

A little behind the scenes...

One of my favourite things about this job is that no two weeks are ever quite the same!
