I do miss hearing and seeing the Curlews however I'm hopeful the chick's made it this year and will join the rest of them when they return in February 💖😍

Happy New Year!

A very busy Xmas and NY period for us, and I was delighted that guests woke up to this view. I have to say 2023 wasn't the best summer as there was more rain than sunshine. I've continued to meet some fabulous people and thoroughly enjoyed welcoming back our repeat guests. Due to the wet weather one I remember with fondness, I was digging for worms with children and looking for bugs not native to their country.

I started a rockery, but that's still work in progress, and maybe my only promise for the new year aside from continuing to support Bella through a testing transition to high school.

Another 3-4 weeks and the Curlews will come back to nest and I will be delighted to hear their calls.

We are fully booked till July but the calendar is open after that for people wanting a Summer/Autumn short break.

Our views often distract me with their beauty and now the nights are drawing in and because Bella has started high school my sunset pictures may end up switching to sunrise since we're up at 6.00am 🫣.

A trip to high school tonight to see her form room and of course filtered to the back of the room with the rest of the disrupters. She's done so well with adjusting and so proud of her transition but not such a fan of two separate school runs!

Our summer even though the weather was epically shady (polite), I've met and enjoyed time with some amazing people who stayed with me.

Crazy week which has gone by in a bit of a blur which I'm not sure was down to my yearly returning guests bringing me gin or the fact I almost melted each day in the heat and my brain fried.

Bella had her first week at high school which meant we were up at 6 which I've not done since having a proper job 🤣 so that was a shock to the system!

Aside from tonight with the stormy weather we've been blessed with some gorgeous sunsets which made a retirement party and birthday party a gorgeous backdrop for family pictures.

First sunset I've seen in weeks thanks to an unusual and pretty crap summer so far. Guests have made the most of the dry spells and still enjoyed our stunning scenery. Huge contrast to last year!

Welcome home Mum.

5 years ago we adopted these 3 feral cats of which Domino often supervises Marc and myself in the day following us around and loves fuss. The other two not so much about fussing unless food is involved. They disappear when guests are here as very nervy still but often seen across the fields patrolling the parameters and spying on the birds of prey to see if anything is missed or dropped.

Our summer season is booking up quickly with return guests and dates will be available through Airbnb soon once I’ve got the mini humans back to school. Any enquiries on dates can also be made through our website or direct message on FB/IG.

First time of 2023 catching sight of the 🦌, tried to sneak closer but they spotted me and jumped the wall to the neighbours field.

Looking forward to Spring to see if we have another fawn and to the sound of the Curlews when they return to nest.

Happy New Year to our fabulous guests that have supported us through another year.

We look forward to another gorgeous summer with Kestrel being the next cottage to be renovated to a similar standard to Curlew and Wren
