This is the part of travel that I love. My customers knew they wanted a city break. Somewhere beautiful, for a special celebration. Somewhere with plenty to see but not busy and chaotic. Somewhere to relax as well as to explore. Somewhere they could fly to from their local airport. How about Bergamo in Italy? Bergamo is a historic city in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy. It is divided into the fortified Medieval and Renaissance walled Città Alta or Upper town, set up on the hill top and the more modern Città Bassa or Lower Town perfect for shopping and experiencing the culinary treats on offer. In fact, the famous Stracciatella ice cream was invented here. Bergamo is 60km from Milan, close enough by train for a day trip to the hustle and bustle of the fashion capital of Italy. Also close by is Lake Como and the guide books recommend a day trip to Bellano or Verrenna, to visit its shores. Perfect!

Here’s a holiday for all you Star Wars fanatics out there. Imagine being asked where you’re going this summer and you say, “Tatooine! We’re going to Luke Skywalker’s house. We might pop into the Mos Eisley Cantina for a drink. That’s exactly what my latest family will be saying. It’s the perfect mix of All-Inclusive luxury and tours to the filming locations of Star wars and my personal favourite, Monty Python’s Life Of Brian. A film buff’s dream!

My recommendation for a small group tour to India is the 15 day Explore! India Tiger Safari.
Journey into the heartland of India in search of the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger.
