šŸ‡ØšŸ‡·šŸ’šŸ¦ŽšŸ¦œContinuing my deep-dive into Costa Rica, here’s my Wildlife Adventure travel advice.
The best time to visit Costa Rica for wildlife depends entirely on what you want to see.
December to April, the dry season, is hot, sunny and and as the name suggests; dry. This time of year offers the best overall visibility for mammals and birds. Think monkeys, sloths, jaguars, parrots, quetzals and toucans as well as iguanas & tree frogs. Personally, this would be my preferred travel window.
From May to November is known as the Green Season. Lush landscapes with sunny mornings and afternoon downpours. July to October is peak time for marine life. Think sharks, dolphins and rays. September and October are typically the wettest months.
Have I inspired you? I work with a variety of escorted tour companies as well as operators who can tailor something bespoke for you. Is it time to tick this off your bucket list?

October is one of those months where knowing where to go really matters.

Whether you’re planning October half term, a couples’ escape or a last bit of sunshine before winter, I can help narrow down the options.

I’ve decided to start with Costa Rica for my first post about wildlife adventures. It’s on my bucket list and here’s why. Let’s see how many Costa Rican animal emojis I can find.
šŸ’šŸ¦ŽšŸ¦ˆšŸ¦œšŸŠšŸ¦„šŸ†šŸ¬ Not bad!
Costa Rica is fairly small (Britain is about 4.5 times bigger) yet it is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, with roughly 615 wildlife species per 10,000 square kilometres. 25% of the country is protected, with a whopping 27 national parks, 13 forest reserves, and eight biological reserves, which I would absolutely love to explore!
Costa Rica’s rainforest and jungle waterways are home to sloths, jaguars, crocodiles, and howler monkeys, as well as tropical birds like toucans, quetzals, and scarlet macaws.
The coast is home to iguanas and capuchin monkeys who sunbathe on white and black sandy beaches, while sharks, rays, and dolphins roam the warm waters beyond. Wildlife is never far away.
There are loads of different escorted tour companies with off the peg itineraries to match every budget. I’ve adventured with many of them. There are also operators who can curate your own personal adventure from start to finish. And I’m here to help you find and book the one that is perfect for you.

You all know that my favourite way to travel is in curated, small-group tours. Over the years I’ve travelled all over the world, mostly with specialist adventure and exploration tour companies. There is something so inspiring about being taken off the beaten track, to places you would never have dared to venture on your own.
Small group tours offer something for every interest, be it to experience the history, the culture, the food or the wildlife from a destination.
If you love wildlife, coming face to face with some of nature’s most remarkable creatures is probably high up on your bucket list. There’s something incredibly beautiful about seeing wildlife in their natural habitat, and being surrounded by such breathtaking scenery is a bonus.
Over the next few weeks I want to share with you some of the incredible wildlife-spotting opportunities out there. Perhaps one that you may have been dreaming about for years. Or maybe I will inspire a new dream for your bucket list.
Feel free to ask me questions about specific tours to these places and we can start planning your great adventure.
