Each cottage has a log-burner, individual character and its own garden/patio as well as enjoying shared streamside lawns with further seating. Just a 10 min drive from Slapton Sands, the Coast Path & Start Bay in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Many other beaches within half an hour's drive. Free electric car charging for guests via an EV car charger run on power generated by the on-site water turbine. All logs for the wood burners are grown, harvested, dried and prepared here and are included in your rental. Just to say we still have some late availability due to a last minute cancellation from Monday 8th for the remainder of the Easter Hols. Went to The Kings Arms Community Pub at Strete pub quiz last night in the newly decorated, revamped pub. Great fun, great food, great company - we had an absolute blast. There is a completely new menu, which proved really difficult to chose from as everything sounded delicious. I had the moule mariniere which was fantastic. Highly recommend this place as completely transformed since the last time I went.

AN UPDATE FROM THE COMMITTEE

We have some bad news. Early summer saw good business at the pub but after the washout summer and with autumn upon us, the Kings Arms community pub is facing a cashflow crisis. If funds cannot be raised quickly the pub will have to close.

Shareholders have already offered significant funds. But now we need to reach out to the wider community of friends and followers of our wonderful little village pub. The deadline is TUESDAY NIGHT.

Our Story

Relax in one of five comfy historic, dog-friendly cottages nestled between Slapton & Strete, near Dartmouth,in a stunning coastal valley at the heart of S Devon AONB. Four cottages have their own fenced garden or patio and there’s 20 acres of lawns, meadows, woods, and a shallow stream to enjoy. Green lane walks from your cottage door and further afield. Beaches, pretty villages, cafes and pubs with great local food.

All the cottages have wood-burning stoves, other heating and individual character - they’re set around or in a former 18thC watermill in a typical Devon seaside valley on a working small-holding with orchard, kitchen garden, coppice and water turbine - we generate our own power and have a car charging point for electric cars!

Go stream walking, star-gaze under dark skies as owls hoot by - no through traffic or light pollution. Rediscover what life is all about as you leave the bustling world behind you. The valley is virtually untouched by modern technology, with a 24-hour nature channel right outside your window and green lane walks from your cottage door.

A short drive or longer walk from Blackpool Sands, Slapton Sands, the Coast Path & beautiful Start Bay, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Close to the National Nature Reserve of Slapton Ley which our stream feeds. Dartmouth, Totnes, Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmoor are within easy reach by car.
