🦀 Crab your bucket and go!
On our last visit to Harbour Cottage, we gave the garage a little TLC—new shelves, neatly organised gear, and a full check on the crabbing kits. Because no trip to Dartmouth is complete without a bucket, a net, and a friendly crab chase along the quay.

🎣 How to catch crabs like a pro:

Grab a crabbing line and pop some bacon in the net (yes, really—crabs can’t resist it).
Lower it gently into the water off the harbour wall.
Wait for a tug, lift slowly, and voilà—hello pincers!
Be sure to admire your catch… then toss them back so they can grow into proper Dartmouth legends.
Fun, free, and likely to end in giggles (and slightly soggy knees).

⁉️Did you know Harbour Cottage is dog-friendly? 🐶

So grab your four-legged best boy or girl and book your stay with us. Alongside Dartmouth being a ‘dog heaven’ with many pubs and restaurants in the area welcoming your fur-babies, in our holiday home we also have a special bathroom with a warm shower right next to the garage. It’s a perfect place to wash off sandy coats and muddy paws, before collapsing in a heap for an afternoon snooze after all the fresh air.

Oscar and Lulu (pictured), told us it might just be their favourite place on earth. We can’t argue with that. 🐾💙

🍹Chips and chill? Yes please.
At Harbour Cottage, we’ve stocked the kitchen with a Ninja dual-basket air fryer—because who wants to faff with the oven when the coast is calling?

Here’s our go-to air fryer chip recipe to go with your seagull-watching sesh and sunset sip:

🥔 4–5 large potatoes (about 1kg)
🫒 1 tbsp olive or sunflower oil

Method:
Chop into batons (neat rectangles if you're feeling fancy, rustic if you're on holiday time). Rinse, pat dry, toss in the oil, and air fry at 200°C for 30 mins. Give them a prod—if they need more love, add 5 mins. Salt generously and enjoy with whatever’s chilled in the fridge.

Slow evenings, zero fuss, and proper chips. Bliss.

We dropped in to this uber cool bar in Dartmouth just as New Year’s Eve was getting underway.
We loved it so much we wanted to give it a special shoutout. And even better, it’s only a 5-min level walk away from Harbour Cottage.

Talk about a hidden gem 💎
We were so glad to squeeze in a visit to the fabulous Flavel.
Dartmouth’s very own gorgeous theatre cm cinema has it all - the latest films, live events, screenings from The National Theatre, comedy nights, workshops, a cafe and even a youth theatre group.
A warm welcome will await you by the fabulous reception and bar staff - you can even take your glass of wine in with you. 🍷
