Rail News Monday 14th September: There is lots going on this week for the rail fans. On Tuesday 15th the 5-car Midland Pullman will be overnighting at Goodrington after its run back from Inverness.and going back to its base at Crewe on Wednesday passing through Dawlish at 16.06.
On Thursday 17th the Northern Belle luxury Pullman, which usually has two Class 47 diesels in the same livery powering it, is due to pass Dawlish at 13.34 on its way from Cardiff to Cornwall, the destination is somewhere around Par. The return time will be 17.27 at Dawlish. On Friday 18th the full length Midland Pullman Is coming down from Lancaster for a full weekend at Penzance again passing through Dawlish at 15.08. The next day Saturday 19th it does a trip to Oxford & Dawlish times will be10.44 with return at18.37.
Also on Saturday there is a Railway Touring Company excursion called The Branchliner starting from Crewe and going to the branch line at Lostwithiel. It then goes to Carne Point at Fowey. There are no times as yet but will be around 11.20 and return 17.30. We will amend these times when they are released. On Sunday 20th the Midland Pullman makes its way from Penzance to Lancaster.
Dawlish time is 12.57 for it to pass through. Now for the best news, which is that Steam Dreams is presenting a steam tour from Paddington to Penzance. The one and only 3 cylinder 8p Standard 71000 Duke of Gloucester will take over from the diesel which brought the train from Paddington to Taunton for the rest of the journey to Penzance. It looks like the loco may stay at Penzance until the return run on Friday 25th September. Time at Dawlish is 14.34 on 22nd . No times yet for the 25th
