THE SAFARI QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW TO ASK…

How much do crowds matter to you?

Take a closer look at this photograph I took in Kenya this summer.

See all those safari vehicles lined up on the opposite bank?

We were in the Maasai Mara during the Great Migration, and everyone was hoping for the same thing — to witness one of those incredible river crossings.

And, of course, we weren't the only ones! 😂

Some of Africa's most famous wildlife areas are famous for very good reasons. The Maasai Mara, Serengeti, Kruger and others can offer absolutely extraordinary wildlife experiences.

But at certain times, particularly around an exceptional sighting or something like a potential Migration crossing, you may be sharing that experience with quite a few other vehicles.

Would that bother you?

For some people, not in the slightest. The excitement and anticipation are all part of the experience.

For others, having fewer vehicles around and a greater feeling of wilderness may be really important.

And that's something worth knowing before choosing your safari.

It could influence whether we consider a national reserve or private conservancy, when you travel, where you stay, whether you have private or shared game drives — or even which African country we explore.

There can be trade-offs too. Greater exclusivity can mean higher costs, and if witnessing something like the Great Migration is your dream, avoiding the most famous wildlife areas rather defeats the object!

We experienced both sides in Kenya — busy, exciting sightings and wonderfully quiet moments when it felt as though we had the Mara almost to ourselves.

And that's why there's a big difference between asking:

“Where's the best place for a safari?”

and asking:

“Where's the best place for the safari YOU want?”

There isn't one perfect safari.

There's the safari that's right for you. 🦁

🚢 Apparently one day of cruise training in Manchester wasn’t enough… 😂

Yesterday was all about luxury travel at the InteleTravel Luxury Showcase.

Today I’ve crossed Manchester for something a little more specialised — the CLIA - Cruise Lines International Association River Cruise Forum 2026. 🛳️

A full day getting closer to the river cruise world, meeting the cruise lines, learning more about their different products and continuing to build the knowledge that helps me match clients with the right cruise — not simply a cruise.

And with my own Douro river cruise coming up next month, I may have a slightly greater than academic interest in today’s subject. 😉🍷🇵🇹

A great night supporting Langtoft Bowls Club — and perhaps the start of something exciting! 🎳☀️

What a fantastic evening at Langtoft Bowls Club's Race Night last night.

64 people, 9 races, some terrific raffle prizes and, most importantly, a very successful fundraiser for the club. 👏

Seal The Deal Travel was delighted to support the evening by sponsoring a race and donating some nice booze and two holiday vouchers to the raffle. Congratulations to the winners — I look forward to helping you decide where those vouchers might take you! ✈️🌴

There's another reason supporting this particular club felt especially appropriate…

Over recent months I've been working on something new for bowlers who'd rather swap the British winter for Cyprus sunshine! ☀️🎳🇨🇾

We're developing Winter Sun Bowling Holidays in Cyprus for individual bowlers and groups — combining bowls, warmer weather and excellent hotels with the reassurance and personal service of having your own travel advisor looking after the arrangements.

The idea was actually inspired by bowlers here at Langtoft, so it seems rather fitting that this is where I start talking about it publicly!

✈️ SAFARI SATURDAY | Fly… or drive?

Here's something you might not realise when you first start thinking about a safari:

How you get there can become part of the experience itself.

On our own Kenya adventure, we chose to fly into the Maasai Mara by light aircraft.

And yes — that's our little aircraft in the first photograph.

Then swipe across to the second…

Those are elephants we spotted from the air. 🐘

Suddenly, the transfer wasn't simply about getting from A to B. The safari had already started.

A fly-in safari can reduce the amount of time spent travelling by road and potentially give you more time where you really want to be — out experiencing the wildlife.

But flying isn't automatically the right answer for everyone.

Travelling by road can let you see more of the country along the way, can work particularly well when combining different safari areas, and may suit a different budget.

And that's an important point when comparing safari holidays.

Two itineraries might look very similar on paper, but how they're put together can make them very different experiences.

Transfers. Location. Fly or drive. Private or shared game drives. Accommodation. How much time you actually spend out on safari.

They're all things worth understanding before simply comparing the headline price.
That's part of what I'm bringing into the way I plan safari at Seal The Deal Travel — understanding how somebody wants to experience their trip, rather than simply finding them a package.

Price matters — I understand that. But when you're spending hundreds or thousands of pounds on a holiday, it's worth asking another question before clicking BOOK:

What protection and support am I actually getting?
