Choosing flights can be more complicated than it first appears.

Direct or indirect? Which airport? What time of day? How much connection time is sensible? And what can you realistically expect from your budget when it comes to Premium Economy or Business Class?

There’s often more than one way to get to your destination, but the cheapest option isn’t necessarily the one that makes the most sense.

When I look at flights for my clients, I consider the whole journey – the timings, connections, airports, comfort, cost and how it all fits with the rest of the trip.

A little thought at the booking stage can make a real difference to the experience so I won’t automatically just select the cheapest option that comes up.

A holiday doesn’t always go to plan. Neither does a business trip.

This week, I’ve been dealing with a delayed airport transfer, a driver who wasn’t sure where my clients needed to go, helping a client with their lost luggage, and sorting out a cancelled flight for a business trip next week.

It’s not the glamorous side of travel, but it’s a very real part of what I do. I don’t just book your trips; I’m here to help when things don’t go to plan, too.

I can’t prevent every problem. What I can do is help find a way forward, deal with the practicalities and take some of the pressure off when things go wrong.

And I’m incredibly fortunate to have the backing of an amazing team at Travel Counsellors head office, who provide vital support to both me and my clients when situations like these arise.

Because booking a trip isn’t always just about getting where you need to be. It’s knowing who you can turn to when it doesn’t go to plan.

Here’s a little reminder that even Greece doesn’t come with a sunshine guarantee! ☔🇬🇷

I was in Corfu recently visiting Grecotel hotels, and October gave us a reminder that the weather doesn’t always follow the holiday brochure.

That doesn’t mean October is a bad time to visit Greece. It can provide exceptional value for money. But if you’re planning an autumn escape, it’s worth thinking about the hotel, its facilities and what you’d enjoy doing if the weather isn’t playing ball.

I asked for footage of the Emirates lounge, the food and the business-class cabin.

He sent me the men’s restroom, several videos of the food, the cabin…and, of course, a selfie with his fizz (I’ve taught him well)🥂

I’ll give him his due. The refreshments look excellent.
