🗡️ BY THE POWER OF DEVON! 🗡️

One of Devon’s most extraordinary underground locations plays a starring role in the new Masters of the Universe blockbuster 🎬🍿

Beer Quarry Caves, near Seaton on the Devon coast, with its vast caverns, soaring vaulted ceilings and ancient tunnels carved over 2,000 years, provided the perfect dramatic, otherworldly backdrop for some seriously epic scenes in the film.

The production crew moved in ahead of filming, supported by Beer Quarry Caves’ expert team, transforming the caves into a magical Eternia set 💫

We had a great time exploring the caves location and having now seen the finished film, we can confirm the results are pretty impressive⚡ The film is a total blast too 💥

Wonderful that some Devon crew were involved on the shoot too, plus some local background artists feature as well 💚

A few photos here from across the movie, not just Beer Quarry. More to come!

Filming also took place at neighbouring county Somerset’s Wookey Hole, and in Wells Cathedral.

Based on the beloved 80s He-Man franchise, the film stars Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, plus Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Kristen Wiig, Sam C. Wilson and Alison Brie.

Masters of the Universe is out NOW in UK cinemas and the US from Friday.

Go see it on the biggest screen you can find! 🙌💪⚔️

Calling all crew!

From Bristol and Bath to Southampton, Cornwall and Devon - behind the scenes workers play a vital role, but their experiences of working life often differ from those in London.

That’s why The Film & TV Charity is inviting people working behind the scenes across the UK, to take part in its 2026 Looking Glass mental health survey.

Your insight shows what’s really happening - from hybrid working to life in smaller regional teams - and helps shape support and policy based on real experience 🎬

⏱️ Only takes 10 minutes

🎥 Open to all behind the scenes roles - freelance and permanent
👍 The UK screen sector’s only long‑term mental health study.

From Salcombe’s golden sands to cinema screens around the world 🍿

The Roses, starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, was filmed right here on Devon’s stunning coastline, and it has just been named the highest-grossing UK independent film of 2025, taking £33 million ($45 million) worldwide at the box office.

Salcombe, on the South Devon coast, and named as one of the UK’s most beautiful seaside towns, was chosen for its golden beaches, pastel-coloured houses and winding estuary paths.

Director Jay Roach was highly complimentary about his time in Devon:

“It’s paradise and everybody is so friendly. The people in Devon were amazing.”

And one of the best parts?

Local crew were right there helping make it all happen, including Devon Film Logistics providing location equipment, crew, and even hands-on experience for Plymouth University film students on set.

As Giuseppe Rossi, owner of DFL, put it: “It was a joy working with such an accommodating production team. We managed to arrange several hands-on experience places for local crew, including some much valued experience for Plymouth University film students. We owe The Roses production a huge thank you for the work and the experience.”

This is further confirmation that Devon's coastline can compete with anywhere in the world as a cinematic backdrop - and that when the world’s best filmmakers go looking for somewhere extraordinary, they may just find it right here 💚🎬
