I’m writing more on Substack these days but thought there might be some interest in the musings on winter walking

This solstice is our third in this house and maybe our thirtieth of visiting this part of Wales.

After a damp rainy September the current October sunshine and the colour on the trees makes it a pleasure to be here. We are making the most of the mild spell by walking. Sunshine today after what has felt like weeks of grey and rain. So boots on and walking more or less a figure of eight from Caffi Prysor at Llyn Trawsfynedd to a waterfall above Gellilydan and back. Followed by lunch at the cafe - be rude not to.
The walk is very easy until the descent down to the waterfall - very wet and steep.

Perfect walking weather today after wet yesterday. Cooler and breezy. We used the Kittiwake Rhinog book to plan today’s walk but started a little further down to add a stick to the circle. Stunning views over the Rhinogs, Llyn Trawsfynydd and across to the Stwlan dam. I follow Veni, Vidi, Bibi on Facebook who is an almost full time van lifer currently travelling through Holland. His posts contain lots of snippets of local information and I have wondered for a long time how he got his information l. Today he revealed his secret. The adventure lab geocaching app. This gives you trails round towns and places of interest together with information. I checked out some of the local trails and they look great. Looking forward to giving it a go somewhere I don’t know.

We are starting to walk more in the Dyfi valley - exploring some new to us trails and paths. Today’s walk took us on a circular through Cwm Llynfant from the Black Lion at Deswenlas.
