Today I’m standing at the ruins of Invergarry Castle, the ancient stronghold of the MacDonells of Glengarry. Looking at these weathered stones, it’s wild to think that Bonnie Prince Charlie once walked these halls twice—both in triumph and in retreat—before the castle was burned to the ground following the Battle of Culloden in 1746.
Perched on "Raven's Rock" overlooking the deep waters of Loch Oich, it’s a haunting reminder of the Highland clan system and the Jacobite risings. There’s something about this Highland air and these 17th-century walls that makes you want to explore every hidden corner of Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
