Virgin Wreck in 80m dived πŸ€ΏπŸ‘Š

On Wednesday our group of tech divers embarked on a dive to a completely unknown mark in 80m in the Northern Channel.

We are currently putting together the pieces of the puzzle and hopefully in the next week we will have more of an idea as to a more positive ID for this vessel which appears to have been a WW1 torpedoed SS which sits fully inverted with propeller sitting high above the seabed.

Many thanks to all that were involved in the dive.

More details and images to follow but for now these stills were from video footage taken by Thomas Aucott

Here we can see the "lesser spotted Scott shark" attempting to distract divers during their wreck dive on the Nora 🀣🀣🀣

Sunderland Flying Boat found on Day 3 of our first ever expedition to the Stranraer and Galloway area ,πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Underwater photos to follow but what a dive!!!

It's been a long 3 days here with Dunoon Divers and friends with visits the Longwy, Esbo, Paulina and Variag wrecks plus 2 dives searching for the elusive flying boat wreckage in Loch Ryan which turned out to be pretty epic 🀩🀿

Been a super 3 days....tomorrow the weather is pretty bad so we are heading to the area where Newton Stewart Sub Aqua Club dive to see what options are on the south end..

Full report and images to follow.

For now we are all enjoying a sublime meal at the Henrys Bay House Restaurant πŸ˜‹

We've just finished an epic week of diving here at Wreckspeditions with the amazing Ashbourne Sub Aqua Club 😍🀿

It was a trip that almost never made it to day 1!! 🫣

We were due to still be in the Mull of Kintyre and they were also bringing Shrovetide, their club rhib, to give more divers a chance to dive the amazing waters around the MOK that we had been experiencing for the last 2 weeks.

However, a mixture of destroyed accommodation due to storms and uncertainty about air fills, a decision was made swiftly to relocate back to the Holy Loch Marina and fortunately found a large enough accommodation for 14 of them at Rosscairn

Day 1 saw us in the upper Clyde with a nice check dive on the Gantocks followed by a rather murky dive in the holy loch on the LCTs.

Thinking that the better Viz would be further afield we made the decision for day 2 to be down at Troon Yacht Haven where we had 2 AWESOME dives on the Glen Ahiel and Ahdeek with 10-12m Viz! 😎

We returned to the upper firth for day 3 for a HW slack dive on the Akka. Pitch black with 3-4m Viz....some loved it, others were not as keen. 😞

Such an amazing wreck but with all the brown fresh water up here it was bound to be average to poor. Second dive was up at One Tree Wall in Loch Goil where divers were delighted with 10-12m Viz πŸ‘

So Day 4 is upon us and time for more new sites for these lot and a trip to the Klassy Kyle's of Bute for 2 sumptuous wall dives with lots of depth progression going on amidst the buckets of marine life, especially on featehrstar Wall. Epic day out!

And if 1 epic day wasn't enough, Day 5 we ventured into Loch Fyne for the wrecks of the Moonlight and Margaret Niven and in particular the Moonlight got everyone buzzing with up to 15m Viz πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

Day 6 and we had to show the divers the Avrella....it never disappoints and it didn't this time with great Viz albeit rather cold 10Β°c for this time of year πŸ₯Ά

This dive club truly embody what club diving is all about, the organising, the effort, the commaradory, the adventure....they had it all and it was refreshing to see the incredible amount of work they did through the week which is usually done pretty much by myself. 🫑

It was also great having the Stockwells aboard....3 generations of divers ranging from late 60s in Brian to a mere 16 in Laura, who's attitude towards diving was quite incredible and I know her father and grandfather are incredibly proud. She bossed all the dives and seemed to love every minute.

The 2025 Ashbourne visit has been quite something..

And we most certainly hope to do it all over again in 2026!!

Take a bow you lot.....that was a week of epic proportions. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

We have some exciting news. We are now a BSAC - British Sub-Aqua Club Snorkel Centre πŸŽ‰ 🀿

Snorkelling is a perfect way to see all of the beautiful marine life, without the need for all the gear and qualifications of scuba diving.

We have opened up some of our events to snorkellers, like Jellyfest 2025.

Jellyfest is being run from our base at the Holy Loch Marina on Monday 25th - Wednesday 27th August.

It will be a mixture of theory sessions where we will learn about the life cycle, habitats and sting strengths of the jellyfishes we see in the water and then we will get a chance to go out and photo as many as we can before heading back to the classroom and working out what we saw. Jellyfish expert Christy from Way of the Wild will be running the theory sessions and we will be snorkelling from the boat alongside the Divers. So you will get to locations you may not have access to from the shore. If you are interetsed in finding out more, or booking on, get in touch or book directly.

Back home (only for a week mind) after our final week in the Mull of Kintyre.

What an adventure we have had. Many thanks to both groups for an amazing 2 weeks and despite the weather we managed to get all dives in πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Our last couple of days diving with Mark Kirkland Underwater Photography and his group was quite special with some stunning dives at Smithsons Wall and Glunimore East. Gorgeous Viz and life and everyone was happy as Larry 😍🀿

A wee stop off on Sanda for our last lunch before dropping off at Pennyseorach Farm who once again have done us a blinder in sorting our divers air fills, then returning to Campbeltown Marina who have been amazing and gone out of their way to accommodate us β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘

Home late last night, and now prepping for a last minute change of location for Ashbourne Sub Aqua Club as we take to a Wide Clyde charter from Dunoon.

Always love our summer adventures, but we do love home too!!

All smiles today after a cracking couple of days at Sanda, firstly with the ever impressive Patterson's Reef and a simply superb dive on a site we have never visited by us before.....Smithsons Reef. A stunning drop off from 12-35m covered in soft corals, crayfish and all other bits n bobs.

This was the end of our 3rd day with our latest group, this time some hardcore photography diver types, to visit the MoK and it's been a slightly mixed bag up till now with weather and tides.

Day 1 got off to a good start with a dive at Arranmans Barrel reef, but then the Byron Darnton tide had turned fair early meaning shorter dives than planned as the current picked up heading west, a good drift.

Day 2 was a sheltered day which allowed access to the HMS Breda and good Viz for a change and most divers enjoying a 75min run time on here. The weather picked up pretty bad after that and the only shelter was north of Davaar lighthouse, but some good critters found and a pleasant bimble had.

Today started and ended with dolphins....tonnes of gannets and guillemots, and the dives described above. It was another hot and calm day. The dives required slack so there was a loooooooooooooong surface interval which I took advantage off and got marks on all interesting Wall, reef and wreck sites around the southend and Sanda area..... definitely a few good ones found for future 🀩πŸͺΈπŸš’🌊

Don't get out to this very often...Any guesses?

Final day of Week 1 and what a belter!!!

Glorious conditions in what appeared to be an iffy forecast....and 10m+ Viz on both sites....a grand send off! 😍🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🀿

Thanks to George Clayton for organising yet another MoK week with us and a mixed group who worked very well together (amongst some serious dad jokes Dennis 🀣)

Super diving, super group and they're already planning another visit...why the hell not?? 🀩

Ara best troops, till next time!! 🫑

Oh Mulll of Kintyre 😍🀿

Enjoying some stunning conditions lately on the very edge of the Clyde and beyond, and thankfully Simon Cook and Trevor Warner have been snapping proof.

Can't wait to see the rest. Most of these pics around Sanda and the PS Lapwing with depths ranging from 16-36m πŸ‘β˜ΊοΈ

Average Viz 10-15m 😍

Today we dives the SS Falcon in 43m and superb Viz (waiting to see images) and tomorrow our last day of week 1 and full report to follow.

If you or your club fancy a MoK adventure then get in touch πŸ‘‡

Bound for the Breda (no not that one!) on day 1 of our Mull of Kintyre charters.

Poor Viz on the Breda was to be expected after recent weather and it didn't fail to deliver 🀣....luckily Otterard Rock was much better with 6-10m Viz and lots of life.

Sunshine but f6-7 WNW winds forecast tomorrow so unable to get offshore for sites, so a weather day called and allow divers to explore and be refreshed for 2 deeper dives on the Glenhead and Erskine on Tuesday before the good weather due should allow us plenty of diving around Sanda 😍🀞

Our Story

Our passion is diving. We love it. I would do it all day every day if I didn't have to work. I am always looking for new sites and areas to dive and I am forever dragging my dive buddies to remote places, up mountains, scrabbling down cliffs, driving to the ends of the earth, just to get a dive in. So, when my other half suggested combining both these aspects and buying a boat to run a diving expeditions business......I didn't have to think about it for too long! Jason is mad about all things boats. His boats are like his man cave! I do love my boats, I really do. I have been driving boats all my working life and around 6 years ago I stumbled across a group of these "Scuba Divers". I met Claire soon after this and realised how passionate she was about diving and how adamant she was to get me into a drysuit!! I have now been diving for a few years and really enjoy it but my love still lies with boats and now we have our own charter, we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do. I will gladly take you all out to sites and drop you in to play every day :)
