23 years of adventures in the Nepali Himalayas!

This year marks an incredible 23 years since I first started working in the Nepali Himalayas… and what an adventure it’s been!

Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to explore some truly amazing places, lead countless expeditions, paddle some incredible rivers and share it all with so many fantastic guests, many of whom have become great friends along the way.

There have been plenty of challenges, lots of laughs, a few hairy moments and memories that will stay with me forever!

Nepal has always been a very special place for me. The mountains, the rivers, the people and the friendships are what keep bringing me back year after year.

Looking back through some old photos certainly brings back some brilliant memories. It’s hard to believe where those 23 years have gone!

A massive thank you to everyone who’s joined me on an adventure over the years. You’ve all been part of the journey and made it what it is.

Here’s to the next 20+ years of adventures, new friendships and exploring more of this incredible country!

In september, our founder Joe took on a challenege. 65 miles from Carlisle to the Tyne to raise money for the devastating floods that hit Nepal. weve smashed our target and were not finished yet!

Tuesday 19 January 2027, Joe sets off from Tyne Head. He runs through the night to Haltwhistle, swaps his running shoes for a white-water kayak at first light, paddles down the South Tyne to Wylam, then gets straight onto a bike and rides east past Newcastle to Tynemouth and the North Sea!

EXTRA PAIR OF HANDS WANTED – 27TH & 28TH OCTOBER

We’re looking for someone to give us an extra pair of hands (EPH) for a couple of days at Alexander Adventures.

Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th October 2026

Location: Tanfield Lea, County Durham
Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm each day
Pay: National Minimum Wage (applicable age-related rate)

What’s involved?

A bit of everything, really! General odd jobs, some painting, tidying up and helping us get a few things sorted around our base.

Nothing too complicated, just looking for someone who’s happy to get stuck in, work hard and lend a hand.

You don’t need any specialist experience, just a positive attitude, a bit of common sense and a willingness to help.

Sometimes you don't need to fly halfway round the world.

Sunday 22 November, twelve people, open canoes at Bellingham, and a full day travelling down the Upper North Tyne to Wark.

Easy white water and no experience needed. Salmon running upstream, deer moving between the trees, birds of prey overhead. November on the North Tyne is quiet, and it is wild.

Around the middle of the journey we pull the canoes out, get the hot drinks on and cook. A hot two course meal, eaten beside the river.

08:30 to 15:00. £95, everything in. Twelve places.

Take your mountain challenge to the next level.

Toubkal is 4,167 metres, the highest mountain in North Africa, and in March you climb it in proper winter conditions with crampons on your boots and an ice axe in your hand.

You do not need to be a mountaineer. You need to be fit enough for long days and willing to start in the dark. The technical side comes with the leader.

Six days. A night at the Toubkal refuge at 3,207 metres with the wood stove going. Berber villages, walnut groves and mule support through the Imlil valley. A riad in Marrakesh at the end of it.

Ten guests only, alongside Joe Alexander in the final phase of his Everest preparation.

4 to 9 March 2027. £795 per person, £159 secures your place, interest free instalments after that.

Everest takes more trekkers in a week than Kanchenjunga takes in a year. Sixteen days to the prayer flags at Oktang, 4,730 metres.
