I received a letter about the consultation over Summerhall, much beloved arts and events space, where they’re intending to replace a bunch of the site with student accommodation. Personally, I’d prefer the space they’re planning to build would be a hotel since those prices are massive and it’d add a lot more jobs and money to the area (especially since the Visitor Levy).

Anyway, I’ve noticed not everyone got the consultation letter so I’ve put that in this video at the end

Tons of great groups lately, not as large as the Fringe but highly motivated, asking questions and showing us why we do it.

It’s great to be part of people’s experience of this city. And arguably, now when the visitor numbers are more reasonable, is there ever a better time to do a tour?

Here’s this month’s poster. Edinburgh Street Historians offer:

Daily Old Town tours at 11:30
LGBTQ tours on Friday at 18:00
True Crime on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday 3rd, 10th and 17th at 14:00
And the Forgotten Women tour on the 17th this month at 11:30

These are walking tours by Edinburgh’s best guides, properly diving into the major topics in a way that others miss, while also doing them Pay What You Think It’s Worth.

True Crime is especially good in the run up to spooky seasons!

From the beginning of the Edinburgh Street Historians we’ve been asked why we don’t use it

And for honesty’s sake, I hate looking for pictures for content so it would’ve solved a huge problem. But still…

The whole point of what we are is providing quality stories about the city we live in

These stories have to be interesting, different, and true - does anyone think of AI when they see those words?

It’s boring and somehow manages to be tired while being new

I don’t even believe it’s properly dangerous and think that’s like when someone at school gives themselves a nickname and starts wearing a leather jacket.

They call me Street Thunder.

To conclude, I find LLM and GenAI thoroughly boring and crap. And you may miss me with it, as the children of my day used to remark.
