The Bass Rock is a regular feature of our East Lothian Tour, but viewed from the shore itโ€™s hard to grasp just how enormous this volcanic island is, or the sheer number of gannets nesting there.

* 3 miles North - East of North Berwick
* 107 meters high
* Largest colony of Northen Gannets over 100,000
* The lighthouse shone in 1902 and was fully automated in 1988.

The Bass Rock

A dramatic volcanic island off North Berwick in the Firth of Forth, famous for hosting the worldโ€™s largest colony of northern gannets. During nesting season, the rock turns almost white with seabirds.
