Exploring the Pentland Hills 🌿

One of my favourite things about Edinburgh is that nature is never far away.

In less than 30 minutes, you can swap busy streets for hills, reservoirs, forests, and Highland cows.

I shared a few of my favourite Pentland Hills locations here. Which one would you visit first?

“This was my first time working with a photographer and I couldn’t have had a better experience! Dorota helped me relax and find natural poses even as someone who is quite stiff. She was funny and kind even in the cold winter wind. Highly recommend getting your pictures taken with her, she is brilliant!” - Ayana Gonzalez

Reading kind words like this really means a lot to me ❤️ Thank you so much, Ayana, for this lovely review. I absolutely loved photographing you in Edinburgh 🤗

If we had a session together and you feel like leaving a review, I would be so grateful. Your words really help more families, couples, and solo travellers find my small business 🌿

Thank you so much 🥰

A secret proposal on Arthur’s Seat 💍

It all started with a message from Tanner. He was travelling to Edinburgh from the United States with his girlfriend Nicole, but this trip had a much bigger plan behind it.

He wanted to propose on Arthur’s Seat.
We planned everything together in advance — where it would happen, how I would recognise them, and how to stay hidden so the moment would feel completely natural for Nicole.
On the morning of the proposal, I walked up earlier and waited from a distance, trying not to be spotted.
Then I saw them.

They stopped, Tanner reached into his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked the question.
She said yes ❤️
She jumped into his arms laughing, smiling, completely in the moment. Nothing felt staged. It was cold, windy, emotional, and very real.

If you’re planning a surprise proposal in Edinburgh or anywhere in Scotland and want those memories captured naturally, feel free to get in touch — I’d love to help you plan something unforgettable🌿.

A year in Edinburgh 🌿

One of the things I love most about this city is how much it changes through the seasons.

🌸Spring is when everything starts to bloom and Edinburgh becomes full of colour and flowers again.
☀️Summer brings warmer days, longer evenings, more people outside, and the whole city feels much more alive.
🍁Autumn makes everything feel cosy. The skies become moodier, but the orange and golden trees make the city feel warm and bright at the same time.
❄️And winter always feels quieter, full of lights, cold mornings, and that festive feeling around the city.

Honestly, I do not think there is a bad time to visit Edinburgh. Every season is very beautiful .
Which season would you choose?

Early spring in the Pentland Hills 🌿

The Pentlands are not just perfect for walking. They are also one of my favourite places for family photo sessions.

Long paths, open space, fresh air, and plenty of room for children to run, explore, and just be themselves. Sessions here always feel more like a little family adventure than a traditional photoshoot.

One thing I love about the Pentlands is that they look different every single season. Early spring here still feels wild and earthy, but you can already see little signs that everything is slowly waking up again.

I photographed this lovely family here before, in exactly the same place, so it felt really special to meet them again and capture another little chapter for them 🤍

Have you been here yet?

Circus Lane in Stockbridge is one of the prettiest little streets in Edinburgh.
Beautiful old houses, flowers by the doors, and that quiet feeling that makes you want to slow down and just walk.

It feels completely different from the busy Old Town and is always worth a little detour.

One of my favourite places for a quiet walk and beautiful photos.

We have decided to sell our campervan🚐
It has been such a special part of our family life and so many of our favourite moments happened on the road.

It feels like the right time for the next step.
I always believe that when one chapter ends, a new one begins.

If you have been thinking about this kind of travel, or maybe know someone who is looking, feel free to message me.
I am happy to share more details 🌿

Edinburgh today, 23rd of April.
A beautiful spring day in the city, with a walk through Princes Street Gardens and up along the Royal Mile.

Days like this make it so easy to slow down and enjoy Edinburgh on foot.
