Heriot-Watt University Student Union is an independent, democratic, student-led non-profit supporting over 10,000 students across 3 campuses in Scotland. Life at university is about more than your course, so our goal is to make your experience at Heriot-Watt, the best it can be. The Union offers robust, high-quality events & spaces supporting our diverse community at the Edinburgh campus. We also

Forget stiff headshots and fake smiles. We’re serving you personality, in prop form and the right amount of cheek 🎭. And once you’ve met us properly (faces and all), it’ll all make sense… probably 🤔.

Did you know that we have over 80 societies here at Heriot-Watt? 😮

We have creative groups such as the Multimedia Society and the Music Society, academic groups including the Business Society and the Brewing Society famous for their annual beer festival, and activity-based groups such as the Darts Society and the Yoga Society.

There really is something for everyone! 👏

There are so many nice spots on campus for you to chill out in. We’ve put together a list of our 5 favs we recommend you try out!

🦆The Loch – Home to the ducks and occasionally other birds, is a peaceful place to sit and let the world go by.

🪴Millennium Gardens - Hidden behind the lawn or the back of the Chaplaincy, you’ll find these rounded stone gardens with benches, perfect place to gather your thoughts.

🎓James Watt Centre – Need a place to hang before your lecture or a place to go over some notes? There are multiple options of seating within James Watt Centre, there's booths and bigger tables for those fun group projects!

🌿The Lawn – Spotted at the back of the library is a large lawn you can sit in, sunbathe or get crazy and throw a frisbee around the grounds!

☕Libertys - It wouldn’t be our list without mentioning Libertys! It is the perfect place to grab a coffee and a wee sweet treat after the 9 am lectures, it’s like a reward right?

Hello, we're the Student Union at Heriot-Watt! We're here to help you love your time at Heriot-Watt. We do this by representing each and every one of our students. We'll stand up for everyone, especially when there's a problem. Got an issue with course feedback? Buses not frequent enough? Halls not up to scratch? We can help with that. We've got a whole bag of stuff to keep you entertained, too. As well as running the best events on campus, we have loads of different societies and our cafe & bar are the perfect places to chill out on campus. We run the Student Shop in the University where you can top up on the essentials and the Advice Hub are there for questions and worries you have about University proceedings and academic support. We don't make a profit - every penny you spend with us going straight back into Student Union services and making your time at Heriot-Watt the best!
