What a great couple of days I had with the descendents of the Rev John Witherspoon. After starting life in Scotland, he made his way to the US and became the head of Princeton University. He was also instrumental in drawing up the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the only member of the clergy to sign it.

We went exploring the gorgeous little church at Yester where he was minister and ended up at Doune Castle, where he escaped from this window using knotted sheets after being held prisoner during the Jacobite uprising of 1745. What an adventure!

July 4th in Philly. And a Scotland flag to greet us!

Week one of our wee road trip done. New Jersey was stunning and loving Philadelphia too. Off to the Phillies game this afternoon then looking forward to seeing the fireworks tonight.

After my early 'sheep alarm call' last week, I took the opportunity to explore Skye whilst it was quiet. I don't think many people have seen the Fairy Glen with no other humans, just lots of sheep, a few rabbits and a huge deer (I wasn't quick enough to get a photo of it!)

Enjoying the continuing Scottish sunshine on a day off from tours. A fabulous mother and daughter paddleboarding trip with Scottish salmon on the BBQ for lunch 😋 Long may this weather continue!

Just popped up on my FB timeline. 7 years ago today I headed out on my first tour. It's been quite a journey, pandemic and all, but it still puts a smile on my face every day heading out on tour. Exploring our beautiful country and meeting new people. What's not to love!
