Each year in March and April the rain brings a magical transformation to Bolivia's Salar de Uyuni.

The thin layer of water creates incredible reflective surfaces. This year it has been glorious.

One of our customers, who recently returned from Bolivia, sent us these wonderful photos. Thanks for sharing – it looks amazing!

The Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Public Health have announced a new requirement for entry into Ecuador.

From May 12, 2025, if you’re a citizen or resident of Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, or Brazil—or if you've spent more than 10 days in any of those countries—you’ll need to show a valid International Certificate of Yellow Fever Vaccination when entering Ecuador.

The vaccine has to be received at least 10 days before you arrive.

Individuals aged 60 years and above will not be required to present a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate.

If you were vaccinated in the past, the good news is it now is recognised to provide lifetime protection. So if you’ve already got a certificate from a previous year, it’s still valid—no need to get a new one.

Travellers should take the necessary precautions to avoid any disruption to their travel plans.

Lisa got back from her 7-day Paine W trek in Chilean Patagonia a couple of weeks ago.

“I made it to the towers & walked about 57 miles! Loved it & weather was perfect (No wind or rain) Colours were beautiful too. Such an awesome experience!”

Her fabulous photos capture the beauty of Torres del Paine Park in off-peak autumn - dramatic peaks and stunning colours, plus the weather was amazing and the trails were less crowded.
And she even saw a puma on day one!

We're glad you had such a great trip, Lisa! Thanks for sharing your feedback and photos.

Maureen had a fabulous time on her Galapagos cruise in March. This is what she told us when she got home:

“The highlight of my holiday was snorkelling with large shoals of fish while looking up to lava ridges full of blue-footed bo***es, then watching them dive to take the fish from the water. Magical!”

“The boat was excellent, lovely cabins and upper deck was fantastic. Food was great.”

“Superb organisation made the trip."

"Our guide was very knowledgeable about wildlife but also the wider picture of local issues. All crew were from Galapagos and local issues were highlighted where local people benefit from tourism. I was happy that we were supporting local people.”

Thanks for the lovely feedback and photos, Maureen. Your trip sounds amazing!

And thanks again for choosing Andean Trails to help you plan it.
