Back to the King's Theatre for an EIF performance of "Clown Show", a contemporary portrait of America as a falling-apart circus. This must be one of the most surreal, entertaining and thought-provoking spectacles I've seen for a long time. With its superb staging and physicality, this was also a European premiere. I love the Festival!

It says on the label of the sink and drain unblocker I bought in M&S (their own brand) "suitable for vegans".

Wanting to give myself a bit of a treat after a rather miserable few weeks healthwise I tried to book a table at Chez Jules in Hanover Street, Edinburgh. What appalling customer service!

The gentleman with the passive aggressive attitude who answered the phone struggled to understand my surname, even though I spelled it out slowly and clearly several times in English and French. He advised me to send an email, which would be answered in 2 hours. 3 hours later, nothing..

When I phoned again to ask if my email had been received, the same gentleman assured me that a reply confirming my booking would be sent at 9pm.

9pm came and went....10pm (the restaurant closing time)... still nothing.

Well, s*d them! They're obviously not interested in me as a single customer.

It was interesting hearing Alf Ramsay saying ("The Alf Ramsay Story" BBC4) that it would take a great side to beat his 1966 team. Guess what? It happened the very next year. Guess who? Was it mentioned during the programme? Of course not. But that says all you need to know about that legendary Scotland team.
