Sometimes a picture says more in black and white. ◼️◻️

Without colour, you start to notice the things that were always there. The texture of old stonework, the geometry of Cross Street in the rain, the way light flares against wet pavements on an overcast afternoon.

Ellesmere has extraordinary bones. This is a town built on centuries of market trade and community. Strip away the colour and it's all still there.

Ellesmere is for everyone — and we mean everyone. 💙

The paths around the Mere are flat and easy underfoot. The canal towpath is wide and level. The town centre is compact and walkable, with good parking close by. Most of what makes Ellesmere special is right here, without steep climbs or challenging terrain.

Whether you're a seasoned walker, pushing a buggy, using a wheelchair, or simply taking things at a gentler pace, this town has something to offer you.

🥁 TODAY IS THE DAY — Ellesmere Carnival is HERE!

The parade is rolling through town and the energy is already electric. Head to the town centre to catch the action, then follow the fun to Cremorne Gardens from 12 noon for a full afternoon and evening of:

🛍️ Stalls
🎪 Entertainment & main arena
🎟️ Raffle draw at 8pm

Whether you're joining us for an hour or making a full day of it — come on down, soak it all in and be part of the fun. This is what Ellesmere does best. ❤️

Let us tell you a secret: Ellesmere is most beautiful before most people arrive. 🌅

In the hour after dawn, the Mere is usually glassy and still. Mist often sits low over the water on summer mornings. The canal path is quiet. The town is just waking up.

If you're staying nearby, or fancy an early start for a drive through Shropshire, this is when you should be here. You'll have one of England's loveliest small towns almost entirely to yourself.

Life in Ellesmere is never still for long. 🚤

A narrowboat working its way along the Llangollen Canal. Paddleboarders out on the Mere on a bright morning. Market stalls setting up in the town centre, the smell of fresh bread and cut flowers already in the air.

This is a town that moves at exactly the right pace. Quick enough to feel alive, slow enough to actually enjoy.

There's a moment on a calm morning in Ellesmere when the water becomes a mirror. 🪞

The Mere. The canal. Both of them hold the sky, the trees, and the town so perfectly that you forget which way is up.

It's the kind of thing that makes you stop mid-walk, take a breath, and feel very glad you came.

If you've not visited the Mere first thing on a still morning, add it to your list. Some views here are genuinely extraordinary.

Ask any local and they'll have a hidden corner of Ellesmere they call their own. 🗺️

A tucked-away lane you'd never find on your own. A view through a gap in the trees that stops you in your tracks. A little courtyard behind the high street where it's always quieter than it should be.

That's one of the things we love most about this town. Every visit, you find something new. The best discoveries are always off the beaten path.

Sometimes the most beautiful things in Ellesmere are the ones most people walk straight past. 🔍

The ironwork on a canal lock. The way light falls through the reeds at the Mere. A hand-painted shop sign on the high street. An ancient stone wall wrapped in wisteria.

The town rewards you when you slow down and look closer. There's a whole world of detail here that you won't find in any guide book.

Never to old to find the ducks, swans and geese but couple it with a trip into town and see all our lovely independent shops and cafe's ! What's not to love ❤️
