Manx GP & Classic TT tour day 6 - with the race schedule squeezed into the start of the week we found ourselves with an extra day to get in a (leisurely) lap or 2 of the Course, but low cloud prompted us to ride back from Ramsey to Peel, which has an enormous castle which is well worth a visit. After having lunch in Peel the weather looked to have improved enough to take a run over the mountain, but unfortunately by the time we got to Ramsey there had been a serious crash and the road was closed between Ramsey and the Bungalow so we doubled back to Sulby and took the road up through Thor-y-Will to the Bungalow and enjoyed the mountain course from there to Douglas. A lovely relaxed final day on the beautiful Isle of Man.

Manx GP & Classic TT tour day 5 - a scenic route taking in Castletown, the Calf of Man, Tinwald, and Peel, where we had lunch at the end of the harbour wall among a selection of lovely old two-strokes, then back to Douglas over the mountain. Wonderful.

Manx GP & Classic TT day 3 - with the racing over and done we did one of our planned routes around the Island, stopping first to say hello to the fairies, just up the road from Murray’s Motorcycle Museum (which one of our participants likened to a motorcycling jumble sale, but in a good way) with bikes in the car park that were older than most of the exhibits. On via a trip through the moors up the mountain to the Isle of Man Motor Museum at Jurby, where it’s easy to loose yourself for a couple of hours or more (and Clive found a triumph the same as he used to own). Our last visit was the Laxey wheel, which is now restored and turning enthusiastically, then an ice cream on the seafront down in Old Laxey before heading back to our hotel and dinner in town.

Manx GP & Classic TT day 3 - for the final day of racing in this rescheduled week we went to the famous Creg-ny-Baa to see Micheal Dunlop win again (he has won every race he finished) before a special parade lap to commemorate the fact John McGuiness has been racing on the Island for 30 years. While he is still fast enough for top 5 finishes, today was the slowest lap he has ever done, as he waved and pulled wheelies the whole way around. What a fella!
We then walked into Douglas for a bite and came across a wonderful collection of two strokes all on a ride out, including a couple of fabulous 500 GP replicas. A fantastic day enjoyed by all.

Manx GP & Classic TT tour day 2 - we first rode to Parliament Square to watch the Junior Manx GP, which was red flagged on the 3rd lap and racers arriving there were pulled in and given a phone to ‘phone home’ and let their team and families know they were safely stopped on the course. From there we rode to the Sulby Glen Hotel, one of the fastest places on the course, and watched the Historic Junior Classic, which McPint won on his Paton, which a couple of our guys witnessed from the grandstand.
After that we rode to Ballaugh Bridge and watched the Senior Manx GP leaping high wide and handsome I’ve the bridge. The roads were opened for people to get home from work before the Junior 600 Classic TT, so we rode back to the hotel, changed into civvies and walked to the bottom of Bray Hill, then into town for dinner. A big day in fabulous weather - bloody marvellous!

Galicia & Picos tour special offer!

Cancellation corner!

Due to personal reasons one of the couples on our 'Galicia & the Picos' tour in September has had to pull out, which means there is now 1 room available with a £750 price reduction. This can be a double or twin room, and includes a large (4 bed) inside cabin both out and back.

This is a great opportunity to grab a late season tour to north west Spain, with a day off the bikes in Santiago de Compostela, and ride-outs to the dramatic coastline around this part of the Iberian peninsula, riding through the Picos on the way there and the way back.

First come first served, so be quick and give us a call on 0800 774 7149, or ping an email to '[email protected]'.

Day two ride out - beautiful weather for our ride out through Richmond, Northallerton, Thirsk, Helmsley, over to Blakey Ridge, return in a loop via Chimney Bank to Hutton-le-Hole, Kirkbymoorside, Pickering and up to Goatland for lunch, then on to the A171, past Scaling Dam, down to Castletown, onto the ‘Helmsley TT’, then past Rievaulx Abbey, and back to our hotel via Thirsk, Masham, and Leyburn. After some well earned refreshment out in the sun and dinner in our private dining room we got together for a group photo prior to a live recording of the ‘Front End Chatter’ podcast. What a great day!
Tomorrow we head home on all points of the compass, and look forward to the next time we get together again.
