Majorca, 1989. Me and my dad, on his boat.

I was incredibly lucky to have a dad who worked hard to provide for his family. He was a true entrepreneur. Property, a health club, a record label (Bob Marley even visited his studio!) and, as it happens, he nearly ventured into travel too.

Sadly, I lost him when I was just five.

But I was lucky in another way. I had an amazing mum who sacrificed so much to give me the best childhood she possibly could. Something I appreciate more and more as I get older.

Looking at this photo now, I wonder whether my love of travel started right here.

Life since hasn't always been easy. There have been wonderful highs and difficult lows. I've had to start again, pick myself up and find the strength to keep going.

But through it all, the greatest thing that's happened to me is becoming a dad myself.

Three incredible children who mean absolutely everything to me. They're the reason behind the name XANARI, and the reason I'm so determined to make it a success.

Losing my dad so young taught me something that has stayed with me ever since.

Time is the one thing we can never get back.

Perhaps that's why I care so much about what I do.

When someone trusts me with their holiday, I don't just see flights, hotels and an itinerary. I see precious time with the people they love. Memories being made. Moments that, years later, might mean more than they could ever imagine.

Just like this photograph does for me.

And if you're going through a difficult time yourself, please don't give up. Life doesn't always turn out how we imagined, and I know first-hand that finding your way back isn't always easy.

But there's still so much worth looking forward to.

Dream holidays are my job. These are my nightmares.

It’s rarely the big, obvious stuff. It’s the tiny details nobody thinks to check until it’s too late. The passport, the transfer times, the car still at Gatwick when you’ve landed at Heathrow.

And the scary thing? These things really do happen.

My job is to think about all those little details before you even have to. And if something does go wrong while you’re away, I’m there to help, 24/7.

Some of the best things in my career have started with a conversation…

One on Necker Island, as a guest of Sir Richard Branson. Others that led to interviews with Reuters, GB News and Channel 5, and features in The Telegraph and The Sunday Times. And somewhere along the way, I was named Luxury Travel Designer of the Year.

When I first started in travel, I could never have imagined some of these moments. I’ve been incredibly lucky, met some amazing people and have learnt a lot.

But do you know which conversations I still enjoy the most?

The ones that start with, “We’re thinking about going away…”

Getting to know you, hearing what you love about travelling, where you’ve always wanted to go, and all those little things that make a holiday really special.

Because for me, that’s always been the best part of this job. Taking everything I’ve learnt over the years and putting it into something that’s just right for you.

Imagine waking up somewhere you can watch horses galloping along the beach, spend the afternoon by your own private pool, and barely see another person all day.

This is NIHI Sumba, on a beautiful little-known island in Indonesia. And it’s somewhere I think more people should know about 🐎

It’s a short hop from Bali, but honestly, it couldn’t feel more different.

The beaches are wild, the villas are beautiful, and you can even take the horses into the ocean for a swim. If you love surfing, you’re in for a treat too.

One of the things I particularly like about NIHI is the work it does to support the local communities. There’s a lot more to this place than just being a beautiful hotel.

It’s not somewhere I’d recommend to absolutely everyone. Getting there takes a bit of effort, and it’s much more about switching off and enjoying where you are than having lots going on around you.

But for the right person? Whether it’s a honeymoon, a special birthday or just a holiday you’ll remember for years, I think it’s pretty hard to beat.

Taking the children away on your own takes a different kind of planning 🧳

It’s not just about finding a beautiful hotel. It’s the room layout, so you’re not sitting in the dark at 8pm. It’s someone waiting at arrivals, so you’re not juggling bags, passports and car seats. It’s dinner booked at a time that works for little ones, and kids’ clubs and babysitting arranged before you go, wherever possible.

Because even an hour by the pool with a book can make all the difference.

As a dad of three, I know how much thought goes into a family holiday. And when you’re the only adult travelling, getting those details right matters even more.

Whether it’s just you and the kids, you’re a grandparent taking the little ones away, or your other half simply can’t get the time off, you deserve a holiday too.

Some people book Bora Bora for the view. Some book it for what’s under the water.

Four Seasons sits on its own little island, facing Mount Otemanu. It’s the view people travel halfway around the world for. And with the right bungalow, it’s what you wake up to.

But here’s something most people don’t know.

Hidden within the resort is a private lagoon sanctuary, home to more than 100 species of marine life. Octopus, eagle rays, unicorn fish. You can even snorkel through it with the resident marine biologists.

And then there’s the chance to plant your own piece of coral, helping restore the reef.

So you’re not just taking photographs home. You’re leaving something behind, too.

Honeymooners love the romance of it. For children, imagine being able to say you’ve helped grow a coral reef in Bora Bora.

It hasn’t stopped raining here all day, so I’ve been thinking about baths with slightly better views than my office window 🌧️

And honestly, I’d struggle to get out of some of these.

🌇 Aman Tokyo — Imagine coming back after a day exploring Tokyo, running yourself a bath and watching the sun set over the city. Not a bad way to finish the day.

🐘 Londolozi Private Granite Suites — You’re lying in the bath, looking out over the African bush, and if you’re lucky, a family of elephants wanders past. I mean, how do you beat that?

🌴 Six Senses Zil Pasyon — Palm trees, enormous granite boulders and the Indian Ocean just outside. Evening plans would be cancelled.

🏙️ The Silo Hotel — You’ve got Cape Town spread out in front of you, with those incredible windows framing the view. I could happily lose a couple of hours just looking out.

❄️ Octola Private Wilderness — A hot bath, a glass of ch*****ne and nothing but snow-covered trees outside. Zero stress and absolutely nowhere you need to be.

I know most people don’t choose their holiday based on the bath.

But after seeing these, perhaps we should 😂
