Doors are now open for today's service. Walks with cheese is a great idea, no?

Photo credit to Tim who also works with us at Swanaford and found this nest hidden in the pinot last summer.

What you're looking at is our seriously delicious pinot noir rosé '25 arriving back in the tank after going through filtering. It's our first still rosé, a limited release beauty that is now in the bottle and will be available from the vineyard in a few weeks. A summer delight, it smells of intense strawberry with a hint of black pepper and tastes of red fruit, with elegant earthiness. Move over , the Swan has arrived.

Summer has finally arrived in Devon in force, so gather your best ones and come stroll in the countryside, see a vineyard in bloom and have a natter over a nibble and a glass of chilled wine.

Like many vineyards in the UK, we suffered frost damage in April. The tender new shoots froze and died off in the early hours of one fateful night, which is always rubbish.

We had a feeling this might be the year (we haven't had one for a while) and we always delay tying down and leave up sacrificial canes (also known as kickers) to mitigate the risk. What's a sacrificial cane? When we pruned in Jan/Feb we left 4 canes on the vine, along comes the frost and kills off some buds on some canes - we then pick the strongest of the four and tie that down (with the nattily named Max Tapener).

So here we are in mid may and we hope the frost events are over for this year. The secondary growth is coming along nicely and by July, the whole place will be like Day of the Triffids again... we'll just have less grapes.

We are only doing ONE foodie social this summer and it's a belter. On Thursday 18 June we will have Highgrange back to cook up a storm over fire at the vineyard. Local, seasonal, expertly cooked - and paired immaculately with our wines. Think lamb feast, Dalwood asparagus and burnt cider apple cheesecake, plus welcome canapés and fizz. This is five hours of top quality fine food and wine to be enjoyed long-table style with friends and neighbours. To book, head over to the highgrange website and secure your seats now. £70pp for an unforgettably good night.
