Look up tonight 🌘

The moon will cover up to 96% of the sun across the UK and Europe this evening - the deepest eclipse since 2015, and the closest to totality until 2081. The partial phase begins shortly after 6:00pm, peaking between 7:06 and 7:13pm BST.

Find an open spot with a clear western horizon. Certified eclipse glasses only - never look directly at the sun.

And if it leaves you wanting the real thing: on 2 August 2027, a total solar eclipse sweeps across North Africa with over six minutes of totality near Luxor, the longest visible from land this century.
