Congratulations to Claire Thompson on her first ever Springer which was this beautiful 15lb sea liced fish landed from Junction pool…a day to remember for Claire and Robert Burton too who landed an 8lb fish from further upstream in Couperee! 🎣🙌
While earlier in the week with a change of weather conditions and a rise in water levels Iain Roxborough had a fabulous 10lb fish from Couperee and Jamie Roxborough landed a lovely fresh 9lb fish from Junction too! 👏👏

For guests there are many hidden gems on Orton Estate to discover, but one of our favourites, tucked away in a copse of trees is the Doocot! This historic structure built in the early 18th century to house pigeons would have once bustled with activity. With the birds providing food, fertiliser and feathers!
Now it is a quiet elegant reminder of a rural life years ago…while the world has flown on it is standing still.🕊️

A poppy at Mains of Orton is in full bloom today…a fitting tribute to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day here at Orton.

Gorse and Broom are in full bloom just now, lighting up the landscape with rich yellow and golden hues, possibly the most vibrant display for years at Orton.
The scent of vanilla is filling the air as the broom explodes in colour competing with the gorse…a reminder that even the wildest hedges are beautiful. 💛

Wonderful to see nature springing from its slumber this week…blossom stretches across the far corners of the estate, fields breathe and the views turn green for another year…magical!

It’s hard to say goodbye! 💙
Our fabulous Babs has been an integral part of the housekeeping team at Orton for nearly five years; sadly for us, she is taking early retirement this week to focus on travelling with her husband and family. We will miss her cheeky sense of humour and her infectious laugh which she always brought to work, even on the toughest of days!
Enjoy all of your upcoming adventures Babs…safe travels and best wishes from the whole team! 💐

Well the weather conditions today were pretty breezy with some big gusts and the river was 3’2” and rising at the Boat’O’Brig this morning…not ideal conditions for our rods, but Mr Charlie Knight landed this beautiful 8lb silver bar from Turn Pool. 🙌

A special day today as the season commences on the Spey for 2025!
Our ghillies Andy & Mark were joined by six eager rods and a number of silver bars were seen with a 9lb beauty landed from Turn Pool…what a fabulous start to the season!
