Levens Hall is a stunning Elizabethan manor house located in Cumbria, England, renowned for its beautifully preserved architecture and world-famous topiary which were first created by the French gardener Guillaume Beaumont between 1689 and 1712 and are still remarkably intact. The house is mainly Tudor but dates back to 13th Century in parts and was extended in the 16th Century. Inside the house is the OLDEST Patchwork Quilt in England dated to 1708. There is no date on the quilt or the bed hangings but the family claim it was made by the lady of the house and her step daughters in that year. The quilt is made of fabrics contemporary with that time. They are imported Indian cottons hand printed with exotic designs of birds and flowers in reds and greens which would have been incredibly expensive at the time. A visit to Levens Hall is a journey through centuries of heritage, artistry, and horticultural brilliance and can easily be incorporated into your chauffeur-driven tour of England. Chester is an historic city in the northwest of England, renowned for its well-preserved Roman walls, charming medieval architecture, and the stunning Chester Cathedral. A walk along the ancient city walls offers breath-taking views of the River Dee and the famous Eastgate clock, one of the most photographed clocks in the UK. The city's unique two-tiered shopping galleries, known as the Rows, add to its distinctive charm. The Rows are continuous half-timbered galleries, reached by steps, which form a second row of shops above those at street level along Watergate Street, Northgate Street, Eastgate Street and Bridge Street. The Rows are unique in the world, and nobody is quite sure why they were built in this way. Some original 13th century buildings, including the Three Old Arches in Bridge Street, have survived the ravages of time, but many of the impressive facades are Victorian copies. Nevertheless, they are still magnificent and greatly contribute to the beauty and character of Chester. Whether you're exploring Roman ruins, enjoying a boat ride, or visiting the Chester Zoo, the city blends heritage with vibrant modern culture effortlessly. Your chauffeur would collect you each morning for the fabulous Chester Grosvenor Hotel and take you to explore this charming city. For more information please visit www.bhctours.co.uk

As you continue your chauffeur-driven tour of England it is now time to drive up to Kidderminster to pick up the Severn Valley Railway for the 1 hr 20 minute ride up to Bridgnorth. The Severn Valley Railway is a full-size standard-gauge railway line running regular, mainly steam-hauled, passenger trains between Kidderminster in Worcestershire and Bridgnorth in Shropshire, a distance of approximately sixteen miles. The journey is full of interest, as the route follows closely the course of the River Severn for most of the way on its journey between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. A highlight of the journey is the crossing of the River Severn by means of the Victoria Bridge - a massive 200-foot single span, high above the water. There being few roads in the Severn Valley, some of the views are only visible from the Railway. The scenery is varied and largely unspoiled, punctuated by the quaint 'olde worlde' charm of country stations. Your chauffeur would meet you at the other end of your nostalgic journey through this beautiful part of England. To find out more please visit www.bhctours.co.uk

"Ride a cock-horse to Banbury Cross,
To see a fine lady ride on a white horse,
With rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
She shall have music wherever she goes."
So says the nursery rhyme. In truth, nobody is quite sure who this fine lady is and there is much speculation. The one that is most likely is Celia Fiennes, whose brother was William Fiennes, 3rd Viscount Saye and Sele who lived at Broughton Castle, Banbury, on the grounds that the line in the nursery rhyme should be "To see a Fiennes Lady....". In 1697 she set off to ride side-saddle through every county in England and kept a diary. A latter-day travel writer indeed.
