Fabulous, relaxing break in the forest. Lovely quirky property, plenty of space/areas for different people and uses. We enjoyed using the whirlpool bath and sauna. Booking and pre-stay correspondence was very good, very clear instructions/advise from Jayne. Despite the wet weather, the views over the Wye V...

Jayne is a fantastic host, the place was amazing as always and has everything you need. I really appreciated the local knowledge on dog walks and nearby areas which made the visit much more enjoyable. The views were amazing (the pictures do not do them justice!) from an amazing place to stay.

Hi Facebook friends - I haven't posted for a while due to the sad loss of my husband. There was a time of reflection & you would have found the diary closed.
I have now decided to carry on - so please do look at the availability under the book button - the diary has been re-opened!
This has been possible because of the amazing Julie Butler & her family who have maintained the cottage to the highest standard and the wonderful reviews I continue to receive - I've just updated those if you want to check them out. Also Airbnb continue to receive 5 star ratings. Thank you for your patience and hope you will have another look - it's a little gem for sure. Jayne x

Our Story

The Cottage is located high in the Forest of Dean, with spectacular views of the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains; you can walk straight into the forest, which has a multitude of ancient trails and some great pubs. The River Wye is a few minutes walk away, and there are lovely old Market Towns, like Monmouth and Ross on Wye, closeby.

Lovers of history won’t be disappointed, just a few miles away, you’ll find the Norman ruins of Goodrich Castle; St Briavels Castle, previously an important royal defence on the frontier with Wales; Chepstow Castle, Raglan Castle, 12th Century Tintern Abbey and the three 'Three Choirs' Cathedral Cities of Gloucester, Worcester and Hereford are a short distance away.

Real Ale lovers won’t be disappointed either, many local pubs sell local Ales e.g. from The Hillside and Wye Valley Breweries.
